It looks like the days of buying second hand games will become a thing of the past for the PlayStation 3 if Sony has its way.
According to Games Radar, high street shops have been notified by Sony that it will be illegal for consumers to sell any games they buy for the upcoming PlayStation 3.

Isn't this true for *all* software since what, 1960 ?
- meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.
Wait, how did they jumped from 'software is licenced' to 'disc isn't yours' ? |

Guys, as annoying and nasty as it seems this move will actually benefit gaming on the system. Think about if there was no piracy at all or second hand sales, how much more money developers would be getting.
Right now with next gen their budgets are squeezed like a chihuahua between a fat womans ass cheeks. Leading to the reason that we are seeing so many "safe" games and sequels. Something which people are always quick to bitch about, not realising that their habits are part of the problem.
The less money Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo lose to second hand sales the more developers will benefit. The more YOU will benefit as a gamer. |
