AMD was first with HBM but unfortunately the Fury just doesn't bring enough Fury to take serious mindshare. It basically keeps up with the 390X and is limited to 4GB of memory - now, 4GB is enough for pretty much everybody since no graphics card on the market can game at 4K or over, which is where you need more than 4GB, but it definitely affects bragging rights that it is basically on par with the 390X and the GTX 980.
The second HBM generation will, not surprisingly, blow the doors off anything that came before. I guess I'm updating my gaming rig in the early fall, then! |
