4K 55" sure is $1500+ but you get 40" 4K which is way large for gaming for $700. Hey.. its something.. Yer talking to a guy whom bought the top end 60" 1080p Sharp Aquos back in March'12 for $2500 (which was cheap at the time) but hark look now! Tech moved forward considerably in such a compressed time frame. |

I don't think 4K is needed on a 40". Looking at it from 3 meter distance, 1080p is enough. Even from ~2.5 meters (sorry imperials, I am 100% metric except when displays sizes are concerned ) |

Oh but non non... you *MUST* have the latest thang!
Yeah well 4K isn't enough, apparently, so we got 8K soon and in the mid-term 12K.. I think the human eye won't see anything beyond 12K even with your eye-ball right on those screens. |

Been laughing at that for a minute, then I almost started to cry.

We're in the same boat.
As for the rest of the thread.
I've seen games on projectors. The only benefit I've seen is that it's better for your eyes (you sit much farther back).
Movies, games, they do look far better on a monitor than they do in on projectors, even in the the cinema (and those guys supposed to have superior tech!). |
