Direct X 10 isn't supported on a gaming level in XP, it is only DX 9.
Quote: | it seems that ArmA 3 will not support DX9 at all as the game requires Shader Model 4. Moreover, Windows XP will not be supported (even though DX10 is supported by that OS) |

DX10 as I recall could be installed on XP years ago when Vista was out. I remember doing such a thing when I played lotro and they added dx10 support. It seemed to work considering all the options became available and it ran like ass.
It wasn't anything official and was more of a mod btw. Then again MS OS stuff is little better than a cobbled together mod with no support. |

No, it was never really supported.
There was a project leaf which allowed COMPATIBILITY for dx10 by emulating some functions in dx9c.
It worked badly and is not real compatibility.
As for MS being cobbled together, as an Android dev I can tell you MS operating systems are huge engineer constructs containing so much data (due to the huge fragmentation) its amazing it works.
It's well made, and fact is 95% of all machines use it. |
