Blizzard DOTA is a mod previously announced by Blizzard based on DOTA gameplay but set in StarCraft 2 game world as it is in fact a mod for StarCraft 2. At Blizzcon they revealed 3 important details for the game, as below: DOTA trademark debate - If you have been living in a cave then do note that original Dota w

Neither Blizztard corp and Valve have claim to the title DOTA- 'Defence of the ancients' as far as I'm concerned.

A guy named Eul coined the name for his map and left the project very early on, while the map Dota:Allstars was what popularized the mod itself and that was was made by Guinsoo who left the mod aswel, after contributing to a lot of what makes the game now though. He works at Riot games on League of Legends which has more claim to title DOTA 2 imo, though that would mean that Valve's title would be Dota3 seeing as Icefrog was the last to maintain the original WC3 dota mod, his efforts with Valve on this new dota game don't seem better than LoL at all though. And I really don't see this Starcraft version picking up any popularity in an already saturated moba genre game market.

I keep forgetting about all the moba failures. Demigod (which I initially liked) but got disenchanted and bored fairly quickly. The rest like bloodlines and that one that was just in beta and more.

Anyways the Blizz one looks interesting and should be free. The elephant in the room is that BlizzDota has very few champs which means it gets old rather quickly since all strats and comps are optimized fairly quickly.

League of Legends after two years has quite a few champs and keeps me coming back since things change even if little doses over time. I haven't played LoL in a two or so months due to work and home. Time is opening up some with vacation etc and I plan on buying the champs I don't own like Graves Talon etc and playing a ton.
