Though summary above is spot on, the debate has largely faded IMO. Consider connecting mouse and keyboard to the console or devices like the Intel NUC (micro gaming PCs). The distinction of what a console can do and PC are becoming more inclusive. A smart phone may outclass a netbook with difference being ease of keyboard and screen size. I see devices converging in the future but will still need to cater to the users who prefer mouse/keyboard/monitor on a desk, or couch and TV with bowl of salty chips, or in a small mobile gaming package.
