Deus Ex: Invisible War Demo - demo
|
(hx) 09:22 AM CET - Nov,22 2003 |
A bit earlier than promised, Eidos has now released
the official playable demo of Deus Ex: Invisible War, allowing you to check
out the imminent first-person role-playing action sequel by ION Storm.
Here is some description from Eidos: "Only one event has been more anticipated
than the December 3rd release of Deus Ex: Invisible War, and that is the release
of the pre-release playable demo for Deus Ex: Invisible War. The demo gives an
incredible glimpse into the unique player choice gameplay. Alex D needs
transport in a jet held by Sophia Sak, mercenary. There are many ways to resolve
the challenges in getting your ride, it's up to you how to choose to make it
happen. You've got a few biomods and a few weapons at your disposal, but are
they necessary. Will you use wits or brawn? And do you have enough of either to
make it happen?" The massive 224MB download can be found on
Eidos,
3DGamers,
FileRush, FileFront, Tiscali Games, GameTab, 3D Downloads, WorthPlaying, FileShack, LoadedInc.
Update:You can also check out
this thread on IO Storm official forum.

Comments from holy | posted - 12:32 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | Is this some kind of joke this game looks like crap and plays like crap holy crap or is it just me?
Comments from Coolio | posted - 02:54 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | Its just you. :)
The game plays well, its a bit harded then the first one but overall it... gr8! :)
Cant wait till its out. :p
Comments from theman | posted - 03:01 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | yeh, this game is SERIOUSLY amazing stuff. graphics are gloomy and detailed, very very good.
Comments from Tony Montana | posted - 03:54 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | being a fan of the first deus ex this one is definatly worth picking up
Comments from Y | posted - 06:14 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | "Supported Chipsets – nVidia GeForce 3Ti/4Ti/Fx (MX series not supported). Radeon 8500/9XXX or higher. (Pixel/Vertex shader required)"
can't play :'( | |
Comments from steve | posted - 06:24 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | Considering it needs Pixel Shader, it looks and runs absolute crap to me.
Comments from crapman | posted - 07:45 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | probably because you have an absolute crap system kthx
Comments from $$$$ | posted - 08:48 PM CET - Nov,22 2003 | i am asking myself, how much money did they get from nvidia to exclude older gfx cards? looking at call of duty, max payne 2, need for speed underground, halo... all run on older gfx card, but i guess there must be a very good technical reason why DX2 NEEDS pixel shaders to run at all (watch out, that was sarcasm)
Comments from amanwithstuff | posted - 12:17 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | people have to take into account that this is a demo and things are likely to change when its released.
i'm all for people upgrading their systems, i feel sorry for the people that are still using their geforce 2's, MX cards (which are really crap) and voodoo 5's *chuckles*
games are constantly being improved upon to utilize newer hardware. there comes a time where the old cards wont even be able to scrape the surface.
people shouldnt be complaining about the inevitable.
im not extremely blown away by the graphics of this game either, so i'm guessing we will have to wait and see how the final product shapes up.
Comments from $$$ | posted - 12:36 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | i can accept doom3 to need new gfx cards, but even the prealpha demo ran on mx cards, and not too bad when you went down with the resolution, call of duty has many effects that need pixel shader, nevertheless it runs on mx cards and still looks great, so why is this here different? i cant see it? its not superb gfx, it never claimed to be, its about the gameplay. i dont like it when people force me to buy something new, i prefer to chose the right time by myself. and the reason why i am really pissed of, is taht i was looking forward to this game since i heard about it, Deus Ex was one of the best games i have ever played.
Comments from Some_Dude | posted - 01:21 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | I admit that the cards are old, but that's one hell of a decision to completely exclude the older cards. The logical option would be the ability to run it with decreased graphics which require no pixel shaders, a lot like Half 2 is meant to do.
Comments from grim_desire | posted - 03:57 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | It's the nature of the Beast...more, more, bigger, better... It would be cool if it were possible to develop newer games with both hi end vid cards & low-mid range cards for people on a budget, but then they'd cost more & take longer to make. Meaning, less PC games and more console games... Bummer!
Comments from amanwithstuff | posted - 05:01 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | and thats a bad thing? :p
i dont think this is the case though. it just all depends on the engine they use to actually program the game; it needs to have support for older systems and i doubt it would cost a fortune to provide support for older systems either.
more people who play it/buy it, the happier the company would be (i assume it works like that) lol
Comments from v1m | posted - 06:19 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | I like Deus Ex, but this sequel isn't a big enough graphical leap to justify buying a new card. Until something really revolutionary like Doom 3 arrives, I'll just rent and play it on the X-Box (which is looking like the best way to avoid upgrading the PC these days).
Comments from CrazySpoon | posted - 07:37 AM CET - Nov,23 2003 | The fact of the matter is the decision-makers had the time and resources to include a trailer for Theif III and to include new logos for Ion Storm. The same guys who made decisions to include the fluffy marketing stuff that increased the downloadable file by 40 megs, they chose NOT to include code that would allow the older cards to run. I have a G4 so I can play the demo, but I would be royally pissed if after downloading this crappy demo I'm given some lame excuse about unsupported cards in the demo...consider that the game is supposed to be on the store shelves in less than TWO weeks. No wonder Eidos is losing money. I pray they make another Tomb Raider bomb so they can all be unemployed.
Comments from Marc Browne | posted - 12:18 PM CET - Nov,23 2003 | Well, what a disapointment, i finnished deus ex on realistic because i enjoyed it so much, ive played it again since quite a few times, i loved the way the world felt real, in this however, it was just so crap. THe graphics were slowing my system down, this shouldnt be happening on a radeon 9600, the guns felt worse than the original, which had pretty shitty guns (that being the least fun part of the game) but mostly the hud was the problem, i was slow and hard to use with massive fonts, whats with that, im not fucking blind, i can read writing smaller than a size which only allows 8 lines on my screen. The game feels rushed, it feels like they feel the need to get it out intime for christmas. I hope half life 2 is better than this as thats my last hope for a decent fps.
Comments from ex-deus | posted - 01:54 PM CET - Nov,23 2003 | god..the game....seems crap to me...not worth the download...
The graphics seem outdated..and the way i control the character..is strange....well maybe i have to play a little more..but my first impression was bad..OOo and the blood that spills from the enemies is very unreal...
Comments from stumpus | posted - 07:24 PM CET - Nov,23 2003 | It's so crap that i can't even get a download slot! Sarcasm /on
By the way ex-deus if you had followed Warren's idea's about DE2 he wouldn't have had *anything* killed in the game -so it's better than nothing

Comments from xxxxx | posted - 02:32 PM CET - Nov,24 2003 | graphics seem dated! It's the HalfLife2 engine! omfg some people are stupid. But the theme of the game has changed and I don't like it as much. Revolutionary like DOOM3, are you suck on Carmacks hairy balls too? Doom 3 is a hunk of shit that Carmack is hoping stupid developers bite into, Carmack is a hack of a programmer. On top of that it's a bloated piece of shit that you'll need a fucking P6-10GHz to run it. Site is called GameGuru, the people who come, are FAR from gamers.. I call em Fucking No-gamer Lamers! Get with the fucking program before you post something fucking stupid.
Comments from yyyyyyyyyyy | posted - 03:28 PM CET - Nov,24 2003 | to xxxx get lost. someone who needs to insult people, cant be taken serious. doom3 prealpha ran on my machine 1ghz demo mx2 card, i had to go down with many things, and still it looked and felt better than any game that is out there at the momen. besides that, go to sleep kid, you dont know what you are writing about, Deus EX2 does not have the HL2 Engine. but this isnt important is it, as long as you think you are playing with the HL2 engine. oh and i want to end my comment with something that you said, cause it fits on your case "Get with the fucking program before you post something fucking stupid."
Comments from LeBowski | posted - 12:04 AM CET - Nov,25 2003 | i hate feature of where you automatically run & have to press SHIFT to walk
prefer it the other way around...
runs fine... a bit slow at the res of 1600x1200 so i use 1024x768
1280x1024 aspect ratio is wrong so fuck that
| |
Comments from flipdog | posted - 01:25 AM CET - Nov,27 2003 | i thought the demo was fairly cool gfx werent cream o the crop but far from the worst oh and why does everybody take all this so seriously if games are that important to you well.. im sorry i pity ya
Comments from mike | posted - 02:49 AM CET - Nov,27 2003 | i have a top of the line system with one exception. ive got a 128MB geforceFX 5200...not that great, but jesus, the game shouldn't play THIS poorly. im gonna test it on my laptop with my ati mobility radeon 9600...but i cant seriously see this game doing well unless they drastically improve the engine to work with anything but the best of video cards.
Comments from bill | posted - 01:01 PM CET - Nov,27 2003 | i hope the xbox version runs better then this...
Comments from retard-killer | posted - 05:25 PM CET - Nov,29 2003 | xxxxx - what a fucking prick - calls himself a gamer then says Deus Ex I-War uses the Half Life 2 engine! It uses the Unreal tournament 2002 engine tweaked by Ion Storm, and also includes the Havok physics sytem.
I suggest you get your facts straight retard.
Comments from Andy | posted - 08:29 PM CET - Dec,06 2003 | Considering pixel shader and vertex shader are relatively recent technology, it's little wonder older nVidia cards (AND Radeon) don't work with it. Upgrade.
Also, if you use a laptop, the game doesn't like the GeForce4 440 Go, even though it's supposed to support pixel shader. I'm trying to find a solution to that now.
If it looks like crap and runs like crap for you, it might be because your graphics card isn't up to snuff. Go steal one.
btw, it's best to have teh 1.5 processor or higher, even though the box says it'll work with 1.3.
In addition, you have been playing a -DEMO-... The game won't be perfect, don't make final judgements about the released "final" version based on a 224 megabyte demo. O_o The final release version runs slicker than black ice.
Comments from BEAST | posted - 01:23 AM CET - Dec,11 2003 | i have a 3.2 ghz system running at 3.6 with a Geforce fx 5900 ultra 256 mb vram 5 gb of OCZ memory DDR400 the works man my comp runs this thing like it was nothing
Comments from jorge from mexico | posted - 04:07 AM CET - Dec,24 2003 | damn,i hope this crapy top notch game can run in my2.4 amd cpu whit 256 of ram and a GFORCEFX5200 THAT seems to be not so good card:(,what do you think, can this game run greath whit my comp?im afraid that my video card is close to really sux :(
Comments from Will | posted - 01:12 AM CET - Feb,05 2004 | If this game is dated, tell me what ISNT!!!! at the following address please!!!!!!
Comments from callum | posted - 11:53 AM CET - Feb,19 2004 | this is a cool game dudes will you come to realise. Havok is fun physics. Go and play around with it in the painkiller demo.
Comments from Tak | posted - 01:47 AM CET - Mar,19 2004 | I realy love games like Deus Ex,Thief and (someone still knows it) System Shock I+II. And i am happy that this type of games still exist (cant see this boring linear shooters anymore).
Dont care much about graphics, much more on atmosphere which i miss on many AAA titles this year.
But sorry, DE2 is CRAP if it comes to programming. Havoc? I could squeeze more out with Tokamak.
Bump Mapping and Stencil Buffer Shadow kills funny performance on older/cheap cards.
How hard would it be to make it possible to turn it off?
Does ATI or NVIDA have bribed them???
Pixel Shader...uhm..k.."Conan" (which i dont like) supports them quiet well even on cheap cards.
DE2 is hardware hungry like DE1 without justifying it (like in DE1).
And then they sell it here on DVD-ROM only...lol...this guys are insane.
Mh....its told a woman worked in the team..THAT must be the reason...hehe
Anyway, if you got a good (realy good) System and you like games which gives you more then running and shooting like a stupid, buy it...

Comments from R Arteaga | posted - 08:35 AM CET - Mar,19 2004 | I am superbly pissed. I just bought the invisible war game and after downloading it, I now find out that my computer video card isn't up to snuff. I read the minimum system requirements before buying the game and it doesn't say anything about needing any pixel shading applicable video card. I am really really pissed at "the man"!!!!! | | The old comment system has been replaced. Use the regular FORUMS!
