- Apple retires Snow Leopard from support - Apple on
Tuesday made it clear that it will no longer patch OS X 10.6, aka Snow
Leopard, when it again declined to offer a security update for the
four-and-a-half-year-old operating system. As Apple issued an update
for Mavericks, or OS X 10.9, as well as for its two predecessors,
Mountain Lion (10.8) and Lion (10.7), Apple had nothing for Snow
Leopard or its owners yesterday. Snow Leopard was also ignored in
December, when Apple patched Safari 6 and 7 for newer editions of OS X,
but did not update Safari 5.1.10, the most-current Apple browser for
the OS. Apple delivered the final security update for Snow Leopard in

- NSA Intercepted Webcam Images Of Millions Of Yahoo Users - GCHQ
files dating between 2008 and 2010 explicitly state that a surveillance
program codenamed Optic Nerve collected
still images of Yahoo webcam chats in bulk and saved them to agency
databases, regardless of whether individual users were an intelligence
target or not. In one six-month period in 2008 alone, the agency
collected webcam imagery – including substantial quantities of sexually
explicit communications – from more than 1.8 million Yahoo user
accounts globally.
- Samsung Galaxy S5 Is Waterproof, Adds Fingerprint Sensor - Samsung has
announced the Galaxy S5, the
fifth-generation of its flagship smartphone. It borrows a bit from the
design language of the Galaxy Note 3 in that it is less round around
the edges and more square - what Samsung calls the "modern glam look."
The phone is more refined, but is also clearly a member of the Galaxy S
family. Samsung worked to improve the camera, which rates 16
megapixels. The autofocus function has been sped up to help improve
time-to-capture, as has the HDR function which can now work with video.
Samsung has added a depth of field control to help blur the background,
called Selective Focus.
- Galaxy Gear Fit Is Samsung's Lesser Wearable - Samsung
has announced the Galaxy
Gear Fit, a health-focused wearable that offers a simpler
experience than the more capable Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches.
The Gear Fit has a curved 1.84-inch display with 432 x 128 pixels. The
Fit has a number of sensors and can track steps, exercise, heart rate,
and sleep. It includes a stopwatch, timer, schedule, relay, and media
controller. The plastic strap is changeable, and it is resistant to
water and dust thanks to its IP67 rating. It connects to smartphone via
Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy and comes with a 210mAh battery that provides
three to four days of battery life. The Fit can keep owners up to date
thanks to notifications from Galaxy smartphones, such as incoming
calls, emails, text messages, alarms, and other apps. The Gear Fit will
be available globally starting from April.

company has been trying to move away from the old Skype username system
for a while now, but until today Windows Phone 8 owners had a choice of
using their Skype or Microsoft Account login. In

can simply access the Skype app with the same Microsoft Account info
they registered when they got their device. Current phone owners who
have used their Skype login before today will now be prompted to sign
into the app with their Microsoft Account email address and password
first before typing in their old Skype name and password; this one time

learn the dimension of rooms and spaces just by being moved around

the phone learn the shape of your home. The hope is that by creating a
robust map of the world, Google's phone could eventually give precise
directions to any given point that needs to be reached.

For Tom, with love.
There's a reason for having blinds on them (or unplugging them), you know.

I was there. He's bringing the usual Elop parrot.

I got it pretty fast - but I question everything all the time, so I'm used to this logic. Some members of this board could learn something new from this.

Any serious gipsy around here can throw razorblades better than this, cutting your face from mouth all the way to your ear. Those are ninjas. This guy with the cards? Not so much.
quote: Just A Terrifying Electrical Anomaly In Norway
Not an anomaly. This happens every time a tree touches a high voltage cable. There's a reason tree are cut out under these wires. Run to a safe distance whenever you see one of these as the ground might electrocute - and quite often -, kill you.
