I don't know, I liked Settlers 4, too - it was not very far from Settlers 3.
But, to be honest, none of these clones beat the original game. In particular, I miss the split-screen cooperative play on huge maps...
I heard that Settlers 7 is fun on a different level, but I decided to skip it due to that ridiculous copy protection mechanism. I want my retail disk and play whenever I want, wherever I want and however I want.
BTW; the Max Payne shots are fugly. That guy looks like an aggressive, brainless con - totally the opposite of Max Payne. They need to go back to the roots, too.
Also, I feel sad about Jowood. Some of their games totally rocked - like Spellforce, for example. Unfortunately, they not did continue with that - and the long promised expansion is still just a dream...
LOL@ Metro 2033 pricing at so many levels...

yeah I did play Settlers 4, I can't put it down as much as the later games, though it is very similar to 3. I guess I just have more fonder memories of Settlers 3. Its just more simply streamlined and in terms of graphics style I liked it, combat is also fun. Anyway.... possibly getting ported to being a browser game with current web technologies.
Thanks for the links. I have the feeling that these multiplayer modes do not include cooperative gameplay on huge maps vs. AI - especially not managing the same kingdom using split screen mode with two mouses...
