The first in-game footage of Batman: Arkham City has been unveiled today in the new 'This ain't no place for a hero' trailer, and it looks very promising indeed. The video shows off city exploration and traversal using Batman’s grappling hook and new diving and gliding abilities, advanced combat moves on multiple enemies and some story elements, including appearances from Two-face, Catwoman and the Joker. Arkham City is due for release on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 18th.

Its a shame that they went console with this game. It has the potential to be the next in line of Thief...

I played the first one on the 360 and it was still pretty good. I played it like a Thief/Splinter Cell type thing as much as possible (except that you pretty much have to beat the crap out of most bad guys eventually anyway).
I'm not sure you can really blame the consoles for this not being more Thief-like...I mean it is Batman. He's gonna have to go all whoop-ass hand-to-hand on the goons to be true to it's roots. The guys that made it do seem like they could make a good pure stealth game though.
Hell, I don't even LIKE Batman or brawler type games and I still thought the first one was pretty good.

Batman Arkham Asylum, was, and still is a cracker of a game.
I would have preferred more of bat's senses/detective mode -loved following the trails of alcohol/smoke etc. As for the baddies.. Harley and the Joker were awesome!!
It's got fuck all to do with platform release, it's a kick arse game full stop and can't wait for the second.
Thief -like Deus Ex and Splinter Cell- was a break-break-the-mould classic on PC. Since then the PC never released anything worthy as follow-ups. Nothing to do with console, rather MONEY! The dev's just couldn't and WOULDN'T plough the money into making a LONG and classic follow up to any of those games.
After that, everything was, or had a stealth brag plugged on it to sell it....on ANY platform, regardless it was still generaly shite.
The PC had it's multi-genre heyday in the 90's, where games were on 5-6 CDs and lasted over 100 hrs because they WERE good, complete with spiral bound manual/map. And that's because money went into SP.
Now it's barely ANYTHING goes into SP and they stick on MP and that's ALL the -supposed- intelligent-over-console PC brigade play and boast about.....
In truth, the BIGGEST selling AND played games are on BOTH formats...so how can a PC gamer justify themselves over a console owner?? Simple..they can't.
Spending thousands of bucks on a rig over a console, for the same game, is just plain stupid! What for???? Graphics.....please....
Don't give me, a mouse is quicker than a gamepad... this is about the SAME games being bought.
Anyway, looking forward to Bat's and co

Yeah I'm looking forward to this on console. Console gets way better support in the end anyhow. I thought the last game looked great and played great on my PS3. By the looks of this one it will be at least 2-3 times better. Can't wait for this one.
