Looks like some Duke Nukem Forever gameplay footage has surfaced via Duke4.net and the demo reel of former 3D Realms artist Brian Brewer.
That footage actually looked pretty good. Too bad they screwed around and did nothing for so long...
Update: According to statements made, 3D Realms had set a hard date of November 2009 as the cut off period for Duke Nukem Forever development. This date was set after the team apparently started development over from scratch about a year and a half ago. The team at 3D Realms also had a release period of April 2010 set after this complete restart of the project was set in motion. Then 3D Realms was just as shocked about this closure as the fans were. A strained relationship with publisher Take-Two didn't help matters when it came to funding. The studio reportedly approached other game developers such as Valve, id Software, and others for funding. They were turned down by those companies that they approached. As noted, this may simply be a huge hoax but it is quite interesting none the less. Duke Nukem Forever could have actually been finished with development this year.

I'm not overly impressed seeing that footage(but that could just be because its not completely finished and some of its just demo reel stuff), anyway some of it is pretty good, I am a bit sad because really there was so much potential there, and really some of the scripted scenes like the pig getting crushed by the garage door was just lol... duke humor is brilliant... and something about dukes level design outside urban environment that is appealing. I still think the game is salvageable, hopefully with a massive push to finish things up.. and most importantly of all proper modding tools, map editor/sdk etc.. fans would make this game live longer.

Wow, that was pretty cool actually. Very nice. It's a shame that's not going to be released... or maybe it will. Hope Duke's not dead yet.

Nobody has any faith in them to complete the game. 13 years later and they think someone is going to take them serious for funding, lol. Whatever rumors are floating around about this game being almost done is probably just another lie. These guys are professionals at lying. We don't really even know where these clips came from. They look very Prey'ish to me than Duke. For all we know, this was a version scrapped a long time ago.

Its not clear when this demo reel was actually taken or whether it resembles the current level of development. Whats clear to me is that overall the animation, modelling, graphics and look of the game is mediocre at best. This footage reminds me of the early serious Sam with better atmospherics and antialiasing, besides i've seen better mods.
In my mind i cant see this game ever coming to light, it should've been released a decade ago as the footage feels outdated as the initial scrapbook etchings of DNF. Time to accept defeat 3DRealms and drag Duke into the waste paper bin and hit "Empty".
Finally people forget to realise that working on one title over 13yrs is unheard of and great work if you can get it. Thank god 3Drealms are a private firm otherwise if they were funded by taxpayers who knows how long they would have taken to complete the game ? job for life and all that.

DNF's release schedule is July'09, it will be rather beta'ish, but then again, so are all modern games.
