As we know, both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are handicapped by an aging AMD Jaguar CPU architecture. This is the primary reason so many games are capped at 30 FPS because these consoles are hobbled by the CPU side of their semi-custom APUs. Put another way, AMD's Jaguar doesn't exactly scream when it comes to single-core performance. Games that rely heavily on rendering computation and AI tend to suffer even more. he PS4 Pro and Xbox One remedied this to a certain extent. The GPU boasted dramatically more compute units, higher clock speeds and a serious jump in overall compute capabilities. But the Jaguar CPU core remained mostly the same, albeit with slightly higher clock speeds.

At E3 2018, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed that the designing process of the next Xbox was well underway. He didnâ€™t divulge any details, but it was later uncovered that the new console is code-named Project Scarlet and that it might be launching as early as 2020.

In an interview with Giant Bomb, Spencer commented that two things that the company wants to focus on with Scarlet are frame rate and start times. "I think frame rate is an area where consoles can do more," said the Xbox boss. "When you look at the balance between CPU and GPU in todayâ€™s consoles theyâ€™re a little bit out of whack relative to whatâ€™s on the PC side." It would be fair to assume that Microsoft wants to bring the Xbox closer to a standard of 60fps at 1080p or better in the next generation.

Spencer also spoke to download and start-up times in current titles. With more games offering higher resolutions and most games reaching well over 50GB in size, install times have become annoying in some cases. He pointed out that they are already working on ways to speed up download times. FastStart technology, which was also announced at E3 will be implemented starting with the Xbox One. FastStart loads the most crucial game files first so that players can start the game without having to wait for the whole thing to download. While they play, the rest of the game can install in the background. Sony has a similar technology that it has been employing on the PS4 for quite a while now, but Microsoft is looking at improving launch times even more for Scarlet, but he did not mention how.

What a joke. A few years from now 4k is very likely going to be the "normal". Unless their dream machine can push out a solid 60 fps at 4k nobody is going care and even less people will buy it. Seriously 1080p @ 60 fps @ 2020 LUL.

Dunno. 4k is - and will probably be - a rich mans' privilege for a number of years. Also, in 2020, 8k will the standard (if not 16k), not 4k.

4K is so frick'n passe! Welcome to early 2016... ugh.. 8K is the way forward (mainstream in 2019-20) so, once again, consoles need to step it up. :?

Happy Juice Games: Lost in Play - Lost in Play is an outstanding puzzle adventure game that can be played by everyone. The art design is fantastic, the puzzles are varied while offering a bit of a challenge, and it is just a wholesome story of two kids using their imaginations to create a world to have an adventure in.
