HomeLAN has posted an interview with Bernd Lehahn and Darren Astles of Egosoft as they talk about X2 - The Threat, the upcoming and latest game in their long-running space sim series. Here is an excerpt:

HomeLAN - What kinds of ships will be available in X-2: The Threat?

Darren Astles - There are basically eight types of ships and each race has at least one version available. You can own and pilot them all. Passenger transports, cargo ships, three distinct levels of fighters from small to heavy, corvettes, battleships and carriers. The largest ship is about a mile long (honestly!) and ships like the corvettes and carriers can hold other, smaller ships. The Khaak have their own versions as well, some of which behave somewhat differently to the known ships. This brings new tactics into play. The last time I counted, there were over seventy different ships in the game.

i am missing a question about the planet missions if you can fly on a planet etc. as it was announced. Also his answer to muiltiplayer part is as confusing as it could be, does it have a multiplayer part now? Or just some kind of bulletin board where you an put in your "highscores", cause thats where Freelancer could be superior in the end.
