Enlight has announced that X2: The Threat, their space simulation game sequel, is complete and is slated to hit North American store shelves within two weeks. "Expanding on the original, X: Beyond the Frontier, X2: The Threat allows players to construct a massive fleet of ships to aid them along whatever path they choose within the open-ended X-Universe. In addition to the opportunity to purchase any number of ships, the player can also pilot any ship in the fleet ranging from small, nimble scout ships to the large, powerful capital ships. Featuring the ability to define AI scripts, players will have complete control of their fleets as they roam throughout the vast areas of the galaxy and explore their own adventures. The Threat will be available on Windows PC, priced at $39.99 (U.S.)."

After playing X-BTF and X-Tension all i can say is that this one sounds as close to the original Fronter Elite as we are likely to see! Buy it you won't be disappointed. P.S. No i don't work for Egosoft.

Well, it had better be better then Freelancer. That game was pretty good, but it lacked soooo much. Freelancer lacked the ability to hire wingmen for missions. For Example, on one of the servers i play on, i am an Outcast using a Sabre and i try to do a 245,000cr mission and i can do them, with no damage to me, but it would be easier if you could hire a wingman or more, depending on the difficulty of the mission. Also, i know the game was called Freelancer because you Freelance, but it would have been cool if you could choose if you are a Liberty Navy or something like that.....from the start. If you wanted to be a Bretonia Policeman, you would start in New London, with a Bretonian light fighter with the basic weapons to survive the missions at New London.....you know what i mean?
