According to Neowin Winhec 2004 Blog, Half-Life 2 should be available on Summer 2004 (thanks BluesNews):

ATi today launced the X800 graphics card and had machine exhibits ready for attendees to see the "Ruby" demo. The Ruby demo has been released onto CD for attendees to view and see the effects that the X800 can render in real time. The demo was very impressive but was not a touch on the demo by Gabe Newell from Valve. This stole the whole keynote to actually see some new footage from Half Life 2. Again we got the whole video which is approximately 3 minutes long and as soon as we find somewhere with firewire we'll get it on here asap because it's one to watch! Gabe claimed the X800 is 40% faster than the GeForce 6800 for Half Life 2 and confirmed that we'll see Half Life 2 this summer

Wow smart move telling people that the game runs so much better on ATI, and alienating a huge portion of graphics card holders. Maybe if Valve wasnt so busy stroking ATI's sack we'ed all be playing HL2 right now. And before the ATI comes flying, I feel the same way about Doom3 and Nvidia

I'm totaly convinced that HL2 is nothing more than a technology demo. If you put together all the bloody movies and tech stuff released i bet you would get the whole damn game!

definately agree with bd's comments, if it doesnt get released for summer then its going to have totally lost its appeal, it graphics which astounded everyone when the movies where released are no longer what can be claimed as state of the art, when compared to something like far cry running at full detail/effects. i still think its going to be ace though, some of the more playable levels on the leak where brilliant, especially the physics on stuff. JUST RELEASE THE GOD DAMN GAME!!!!

kk well seriously, I haven't actually watched any of the E3 vids sighs but did play around with the beta briefly before eventually getting bored. my friend said that clip demonstrated at WinHEC has already been used to demonstrate hl2 in the past? or is he mistaken? I did think it looked pretty nifty...
