- Battlefield 3 Developers Call Their
Competition Lazy - Speaking in the latest issue of
Official PlayStation Magazine - which is arriving with subscribers now
- DICE general manager, Karl-Magnus Troedsson was more than
confident in his stunning FPS, cautioning the competition:
'they had better watch out'. 'Our competitors are getting lazy,' he
said. 'They're using the same engine, the same recipe for building a
game. At some point you need to take that leap. I haven't seen them
take that leap since a long time ago. We are doing that now.
They had better watch out. We are coming for them.'
- BioWare's Mike Laidlaw Defends Dragon Age II - Eurogamer
has posted an interview with BioWare designer
Mike Laidlaw, in which he attempts to defend Dragon Age II.
- Dragon Age 2 Will Feature 'Beefier' DLC than
'Dragon Age: Origins' - Dragon Age 2 lead designer Mike
Laidlaw acknowledged the problems that arose from
Origin's DLC - namely the fact they moved away from the core
story of the game. He also promised that Dragon Age 2 will have DLC
that is focused on the story of Hawke. Dragon Age 2 is out now
for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
- Prey 2 Revealed - NoFrag has the cover
art for the next issue of French gaming mag Joystick, with a
cover reveal for Prey 2, a property once owned by the now
deceased 3D Realms and currently owned by id Software & parent
studio Zenimax.
- Portal 2 Preview - ShackNews has
publised a preview of Portal 2 - 'The new
gameplay I saw featured the first few minutes of the game. The
protagonist wakes to take the aforementioned fitness and wellness test
on her fiftieth day of "suspension" at the Aperture Science Extended
Relation Center. Following the test, Chell is sent back to bed. When
she wakes again, her pristine wood-paneled room has now become coated
with darkness and grime. This, according to a calm computerized male
voice, is her 9,999,999+ day in hibernation. Clearly, something has
gone awry.'
- The Old Republic Trailer - The Star Wars: The Old Republic Website
now offers Fate of the Galaxy, the PAX East
trailer from the upcoming MMORPG.
- Batman Arkham City gets October 18 release date in
US - Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive announced
that Dark Knight fans will be able to
play the full version on October 18 in the US. Australia will have the
game released on October 19 while Europe and other countries will have
to wait until October 21.
- Development costs 'tripled' for NGP and 3DS - The
next generation of handheld gaming is almost upon us. However, some
developers are saying that the technological advances present in both
Sony's NGP and Nintendo's 3DS mean that the average cost of developing a game for
one of these devices could be more than three times the cost
of making a portable game on last generation's device
- Portal 2 to feature original song from The
National - Publisher Valve announced that acclaimed indie
band The National will compose and record an unnamed original song for
the upcoming sequel to Valve's puzzle-shooter game.
- Zynga preparing Farmville expansion - Zynga
is preparing for a large-scale expansion to Farmville, titled Farmville
English Countryside. Venture Beat reports that being
rather than a full sequel, English Countryside will launch from the
standard Farmville application but add a new farm that's significantly
more British.
- RAGE Comic Book Series Announced - Bethesda
Softworks and Dark Horse Comics have announced a three-issue comic book
series based on id Software's upcoming action game, RAGE.
The first of the three comics will be available in North America and
the UK on June 22, 2011.
- Impulse Has Battlefield: BC2 on Sale for $10 -
