Software's Rage. Word is: 'It's hard to believe, but it's
been almost two years since id Software announced its hybrid FPS/racer
Rage. Since then, the developer has been tight-lipped about the
project. That all changes with our August issue. We've got tons of
exclusive dirt on the post-apocalyptic title, including plenty of
gameplay details and loads of screens. We also take an in-depth look at
EA Partners and see how they're changing relationships between
developers and publishers. In addition to that, we've the scoop on God

- Left 4 Dead 2 Comic Con Plans - Valve
announced that they will have a playable version of Left 4 Dead 2 for the
upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego, California. Comic-Con is
scheduled to run from July 23 through July 26. After debuting
'The Parish' campaign (set in the New Orleans' French Quarter) at E3,
the Comic Con showing will unveil 'Swamp Fever', the second of the five
campaigns shipping with L4D2 this fall. The game will be playable in
the EA Gaming Lounge Presented by Xbox 360 from 2-9 pm
Thursday-Saturday, and 12-5 pm on Sunday. The EA Gaming Lounge will be
located in the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel, 401 K. Street..
Valve promises that additional information on the '20-plus new items'
will also start to be revealed at the event. As a bit of a sneak peak,
a still from Swamp Fever was released. In other news, The Left 4 Dead 2 interview on Kikizo
gives Valve's Chet Faliszek yet another chance to explain the reasons
for making Left 4 Dead 2 so soon after the original Left 4 Dead
- Battlefield 1943 Interview - Kikizo
posted up a new interview that they
conducted with BF1943 Lead Producer Patrick Liu about "kiddy" gaming,
symmetrical maps and the future of Battlefield.
- Nuclear Dawn Returns under InterWave - InterWave
studios the team responsible for the HL2 Stargate mod took over the
dying Nuclear Dawn mod after many months of controversy and rage caused
by the original development team. InterWave are hoping to rebuild
Nuclear Dawn as their first commercial product and fulfil the
great expectations of ND. ND is a Source powered blend of first person
shooter and real time strategy gameplay, with full base building,
branching tech trees, and gut-blasting action in your average
post-apocalyptic neighbourhood. With action from across the globe, 4
playable classes per team, RTS commander roles and earth-shaking
weaponry of mass destruction.
- 2K gets help from Arkane for Bioshock 2 - Arkane
Studios have updated their website with word that they've
been called in by 2K Games to help with development on Bioshock 2.
Arkane Studios is known for games like Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah,
and more recently they've been working with Valve on The Crossing which
has been put on hold due to financial problems.
- Avernum 6 details - Jeff Vogel has
revealed some details about Avernum 6, the last
installment in the series. Here are 5 screenshots. If you look closely
you might notice the clever use of normal mapping.
- Savage 2 Patch 1.2 - A new version 2.1 is now available
for Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, S2 Games' cross-platform action/strategy
game
- Alpha Protocol PC Preorders Screwed Again - Sony
of America announces preorder bonuses of in-game
weaponry for Alpha Protocol but, this only applies to consoles. The PC listing for the
espionage-themed RPG carries no bonuses, though PC gamers can take
solace in their version costing $10.00 less. Alpha Protocol is due for
release on October 6.
- GRID is 50% Off This Weekend on Steam -
This weekend's deal is the Codemasters racing title GRID
for 50% its normal price, bringing it down to $14.99.
- Divinity 2 - German PC Version Gold, XBox 360
Delayed - dtp sends word that the German version of Larian
Studios' Divinity 2: Ego Draconis has gone gold and is on track for
release on July 24th. The XBox 360 version has been delayed until early
September to focus on a high quality PC version.
- Killzone 2 DLC #3 - 'Napalm &
Cordite' - The official Playstation blog has
been updated with news (and screenshots) of the next Killzone 2
multiplayer map pack, Napalm & Cordite. There will also be a
hefty patch to accompany the new DLC release. The patch will bring the
game up to version 1.28 and will be released on July 14.
- Madden 10 demo will be available for all later
this month - EA has cleared up some of the misinformation
going on with the Madden 10 pre-order demo offer. Originally, people
believed that the only way you'd be able to get the demo is if you
pre-ordered the game from GameStop. Turns out everyone will be able to get the demo
of Madden 10 before the release regardless if they pre-order the game
or not. If you pre-order Madden 10, you’ll get access to the
demo on July 23. Otherwise, everyone else will get the demo on July 30.
Both demos will be available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and
the game will be out on August 14.
- Plants Vs. Zombies Ports Confirmed -
Senior Director of Public Relations at PopCap Games confirmed that you will see Plants
Vs. Zombies ported to other platforms including the Wii.
- Win a free copy of Fritz Chess for iPhone - The
iphoneness blog has a few free download codes they're giving away. In
order to enter you must (1) re-tweet their twitter message
about the contest, and (2) comment on their
blog post about the contest. The blog post has further details on the

- Want to sell an iPhone game? Price it $2 or less - PocketGamer.biz has discovered
something that really isn't that surprising. The cheaper the game, the
more likely it is to sell. Of the top 20 best selling titles, a full 15
cost only $0.99. In fact, 36 of the top 100 cost $0.99. Surprisingly,
the next most popular price is $4.99, accounting for 20 of the top 100
titles. Still, the site notes that the top 10 games have an average
price of $1.89.
- New Michael Jackson game in the
works - MJJ Productions, Michael Jackson's
production company, has apparently confirmed work on a home console game
based on the now-dead singer. Apparently it'll feature both Jackson's
likeness and his recorded speech, as well as, obviously, the guy's
songs.
