Weekend Reading - GTA V announcement before E3? - briefly

  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light First Look - GameSpot has a preview with a few new screenshots for the latest Lara Croft adventure. Abandoning her roots as a 3D action adventure Tomb Raider series, the recently announced Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is going to take the heroine in an entirely new direction. The game will make use of a fixed isometric view and will be far more arcade-y in both style and gameplay.
  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Faster Server Browsing - DICE offers up a few tips for faster server browsing in the freshly launched Battlefield: Bad Company 2. These are just temporary suggestions, and DICE confirms that they are working on a faster server browser for the game.
  • R.U.S.E. Beta Pre-load Now Available on Steam - A RUSE Public Beta will be available to everyone on Steam on March 9th. The R.U.S.E. Public Beta page also offers system requirements.
  • Dawn of War II Update Details - The update (trailer) outlines new units, a new free-for-all game mode, and new maps which will allow Dawn of War II owners to play online against Chaos Rising owners. The expansion to last year's RTS will be released next Thursday.
  • GTA V announcement before E3? - It may only be March, but the annual E3 rumours are already starting to circulate. Of particular interest this year? Fresh gossip-mongering about Grand Theft Auto V, thanks to industry analyst Mike Hickey of Janco Partners. If Mr. Hickey's prediction proves to be accurate, then it would prove to be quite the spring fling for Rockstar Games. With Episodes from Liberty City coming out on March 30th for PC and PS3 and Red Dead Redemption following up in early May (originally late April) for the Xbox 360 and PS3, a major announcement for Grand Theft Auto V would certainly complete a Rockstar Games trifecta.
  • Nine Million Free Realms Registrations - Sony Online Entertainment announces that their MMORPG Free Realms now has nine million registered users
  • FFXIII on Xbox 360 isn't as Pretty as on the PS3 - Digital Foundry has compared the 360 and PS3 versions of Final Fantasy XIII and concluded that the PS3 is much better in terms of graphical quality than the Xbox 360 version. They've got screens, video, and an article to read.
  • Boulder Dash Coming to Xbox Live Arcade - Coming out in the third quarter of 2010, First Star Software and Catnip Games have announced Boulder Dash for Xbox Live Arcade. Boulder Dash is awesome, and has always been awesome.
  • You can now say 'Gay' and 'Lesbian' in your Xbox Live profile - The Xbox Live Code of Conduct has been updated so people can now use the words 'Gay', 'Straight', 'Lesbian', 'Bi' and 'Transgender' in their Xbox Live gamertags and profiles. While this is a good thing for those with legit reasons to use these terms, it’s also a bad thing because tons of people are sure to exploit this.
  • Sony's New 'Degradable' Game Demo Patent Revealed - Kotaku reports, that Sony has patented a new form of trial or demo for video game:  'After playing a demo for a certain amount of time, or having completed a set number of turns or actions, the product would begin to gradually remove content, eventually compelling the consumer to buy the game in order to keep playing.'
  • Wii Price Cut 'Not Needed' Says Nintendo - The Wii will likely not see another price cut for a while, and the console is still selling well despite this. According to Cammie Dunaaway, the Nintendo US Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the relentless high demand for the console makes a price cut unnecessary.

WTF????

Abandoning the only exciting, atmospheric, great puzzling, and great sighting's Tomb Raider in a world of brainless war shooters.

That IS sad ! :(

I played the all, were decent games. I don't mind that they changed it since the last 2 were not all that impressive (other than gfx) and I don't think they did too well sales wise. I'll wait for reviews and trailers etc before I buy it.
