- Gears of War 3 Beta Preview - Gamespot
has posted a preview of the Gears of War 3
beta. The game launches worldwide on September 20
- Chris Taylor on Age of Empires Online - Chris
Taylor on Age of Empires Online on PC Gamer is an interview with
the CEO of Gas Powered Games about Age of Empires Online, as GPG has
taken over development of the MMORTS game from Robot Entertainment. He
also offers indications that the on hold RTS Kings and Castles may
never see the light of day.
- Dragon Age 2 - Mike Laidlaw Interview - Dragon
Age 2 Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw has been interviewed at Gamasutra, with
partiular emphasis on "how the team arrived at the decision to change
core elements of the game" and building the world.
- Thief 4 Image - JeuxVideo.fr has a photo of some play testing of Thief 4
at Eidos Montreal, showing what appears to be Garrett wielding a bow
from a third-person perspective
- Three Kingdoms Brawler Announced - The9
Interactive announces Three Kingdoms Brawler, a
free-to-play MMO action game for Windows expected to go live this
spring. Three Kingdoms Brawler takes the classic side-scrolling arcade
beat-em-up and updates it for a new generation of online gamers.
Inspired by the events and battles of the Three Kingdoms era in China,
players take control of legendary warriors fighting to determine the
future of the country. By choosing their guiding spirit and hero class,
players can customize their fighting experience to their own personal
skills. As they progress they will upgrade their combo moves, armor,
and weapons, becoming even more powerful and able to face the
challenges ahead. The fight cannot be won alone, however. By joining
and fighting together, the heroes will be able to face ever increasing
odds and emerge victorious.
- Magicka update adds some small DLC content -
Steam News announces a
new Magicka update adding new Mea Culpa DLC as a free gift to
all owners of the action/adventure game Word is: 'You can now play as
the Mea Culpa wizard, wielding a powerful The bug staff and the less
powerful Broken Sword. A new magick in the same theme has also been
added...the unholy Crash to Desktop.'
- Browser-Based Runes of Magic Revealed - Frogster
and Kalydo revealed they are working on a browser-based
version of Runes of Magic, saying the fantasy-themed MMORPG
will be entirely playable in "any browser on practically every Windows
PC without any constraints," and on Facebook starting in the second
quarter of this year
- Serious Sam HD The Second Encounter Fusion DLC
released - The
pack adds all of the campaign and multiplayer levels from The
First Encounter to the content of The Second Encounter, effectively
"fusing" both games together. Players can get the Fusion pack for free
if they own both The First Encounter and The Second Encounter versions
of Serious Sam HD.
- Cities XL 2011 Patch v.1.5.0.725 - The
patch is available on the Cities XL website, where they
warn that it is for all versions of the game except the one sold
through Steam, which will update itself
automatically
- Dead Space 2 Patch - The EA Forums now
offer a patch for Dead Space 2,
Visceral's horror-themed third-person shooter sequel.
- StarCraft II adds nine new maps - StarCraft
II players will be able to check out some new official multiplayer maps
for the hit RTS game. The development team at Blizzard has just made
some changes to the map ladder rotation, removing some maps from the
ladder matches section while adding nine new ones.
- Gray Matter Finally Released - Lace
Mamba Global announces that Gray Matter is now available in U.K. stores,
as well as via digital distribution on their website, offering this
long-awaited adventure game by Jane Jensen
- The Guardian Project is Unreal - WRAL
Techwire has posted an interesting article about how
the father of modern comic books, Stan Lee, has picked the Unreal
engine to power their multi-media NHL inspired comic book franchise, The Guardian Project.
- UDK Royalty Threshold Increased to $50,000 - Great
news for UDK developers - Epic Games has announced that the royalty
threshold for the Unreal Development Kit has been increased to $50,000
from the previous limit of $5,000
- GOG Weekend Sale - GOG.com has put several games on sale for
40% off their normal prices this weekend. They include games
like Arx Fatalis for $3.59, POSTAL: Classic and Uncut for $3.59, POSTAL
2 Complete for $5.99, Stronghold for $3.59, Stronghold Crusader for
$5.99 and The Incredible Machine Mega Pack for $5.99.
- Alien Breed Trilogy headed to retail on Xbox 360
March 18 - A boxed compilation of Team17's recent
downloadable Alien Breed games will soon make its way to retail.
Entitled Alien Breed Trilogy, the game bundles together Alien Breed:
Evolution, Alien Breed 2: Assault and Alien Breed 3: Descent into a
single package for the Xbox 360. No price has been announced, though it
seems likely it will be at or below the $30 combined asking price for
the individual games on Xbox Live Arcade. Alien Breed Trilogy is
scheduled to arrive March 18.
All three games are currently available for individual download on PSN,
PC and Xbox Live Arcade.
- PlayStation Move + SOCOM 4 bundle -
PlayStation Move + SOCOM 4 bundle will be available on April 19 and
will retain for $150. The bundle includes a copy of SOCOM 4, one
PlayStation Move controller and Navigation controller, a “Sharp
Shooter†gun attachment, and a PlayStation Eye camera.
- ZapAttack For iPhone/iPod Touch Released - ZapAttack embodies fast and

- Plants Vs. Zombies, Fable Coin Golf and more
coming to Windows Phone 7 - Microsoft has announced a sales
initiative for the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace that is not so different
from pre-planned release “events†on Xbox Live Marketplace. For a
six-week period this spring the company will release a series of
popular mobile games that have yet to make their way to the platform.
The 'Must Have Games' sale will include Plants Vs. Zombies, Hydro
Thunder Go, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, geoDefense, Doodle Jump
and 'more,' according to Microsoft's Major Nelson. Note too that Gamasutra also lists Angry Birds
among the 'Must Have' titles, though it isn’t mentioned by name in the
Microsoft announcement. All games will offer Xbox Live Achievements and
track player scores on leaderboards.
- Sony drops PlayStation Portable price down to
$129.99 - Sony drops the price on its PSP handheld gaming
devices from $169.99 to $129.99, most likely in the hopes of clearing
out stock before the NGP launches later this year.
- PS3 Hacker: Says Sony Will Have to Kills Him - According
to this story, some kid says the only way he will stop hacking the PS3
is if Sony kills him
