the developers aim to create. The game currently targets a January 2020

Wayne Wong-Chong, from Relic Entertainment. Wayne joins
Pixelmatic's
existing ex-Relic design team of Jason Lee and Damon Gauthier, bringing
fresh ideas and decades of AAA experience at some of Canada's top game
studios. Wayne makes the leap to Pixelmatic after having spent nearly
12 years as a Technical Artist and Technical Art Director at Relic

art direction on the highly anticipated upcoming blockbuster, Age of
Empires IV.
- Codemasters Buys Slightly Mad Studios - Project CARS
developer has now been purchased by Codemasters. Word is
the deal includes all of the company's 150 employees. The deal is for
$25 million in cash and $5 million in stock, but there is also an
"earnout clause" that can add to this total based on earnings over the
next three years. They report this could ultimately add $166 million to
the deal, though they quote an analyst saying this will most likely end
up netting them about $68 million.
- Valve's Index Headset is currently sold out - Most
packages of Index, Valve's high-end VR headset released earlier this year, are sold out
following last week's announcement of Half-Life: Alyx. If Valve is
counting on Half-Life: Alyx being a killer app for VR, early signs
suggest they may just get their wish. While Valve's Index headset was
backordered at launch earlier this year, a few months later it became
available for 'immediate shipping' and stock appears to have held
steady ever since… until now. Following last week's announcement of
Half-Life: Alyx, most Index packages - the headset-only,
controllers-only, and headset + controller packages - are currently
listed in the US and Canadian stores as sold out with a 'Back in Stock
Soon' message in place of the order button. Personally I'm not
interested in VR at the moment. Even so, getting some more Half-Life
is always welcome, even if it is in VR.
- EVE Online Game Devs Can Shed Player Character Anonymity - According
to an announcement
during Eve London, starting in December, CCP employees
will have the option to shed their anonymity if they choose to. Under
the new policy CCP employees will be able to freely announce themselves
as developers to their corporations (large player group not unlike
guilds) and in-game acquaintances, talk on voice communication
software, and generally be allowed to forge closer bonds with other
players. According to the old rules if a developer's character name was
ever discovered by a normal player, they were forced to report
themselves to Internal Affairs and go through a “Witness Relocation”
process. This forced them to leave any player corporations they might
have belonged to with no warning, and to change their character's name
and portrait in an attempt to restore their anonymity. The policy from
CCP started back in 2007 when a developer going
by T20 was found to be using his developer account to spawn unique and
valuable blueprints and sharing them with his massive and influential
player organization. In the scandal's aftermath, CCP employees lost the
ability to play with others without complete anonymity.
