Wednesday reading - 6.8GHz 1TB RAM laptop? - briefly
(hx) 06:13 PM CEST - Sep,07 2005 - Post a comment / read (8)
So did any of you check out the Vietcong demo? How is it? I haven't checked it out yet, but I am planning on it at some point.

Here's some stuff:
  • Flaw found in IE, Outlook installation - A security flaw has been found in the default installation process for Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Outlook and Outlook Express, according to eEye Digital Security.
  • Windows Vista Beta 2 Preview Shots - Just weeks after releasing Windows Vista Beta 1, Microsoft has shifted our paradigms again, unveiling a preview of beta 2 at the TechEd 2005 developer conference this morning.
  • Close Encounter of the MP3 Kind - Alienware is introducing its new MP3 player, codenamed CE-IV (Close Encounters-Fourth Kind), in October.  The MP3 player will be available in either 512 MB or 1 GB of integrated memory and there is a memory slot for expansion - although they do not say what kind of card it will take.
  • Mobile phones with MP3 functions may be the next big thing - Some of the latest phones, such as the Sony Ericsson W800i, have a memory of up to two gigabytes which can store as many as 600 songs. And Apple, famous for its iPod, is set to unveil a new phone that runs its iTunes music software this week. Its maker Motorola says users will be able to download about two hours of music from iTunes for free.
  • New Vodafone Japan phone +GPS - This is the first 3G Vodafone Japan phone that has a GPS function (just like in the car) with a Moving Map function and guidance. The V903T also has a 2.4" QVGA screen and a 1.92MP Auro Focus digital camera
  • 6.8GHz 1TB RAM and 2TB HDD Laptop? - Apparently it does not use a hard disc, instead it is based on "solid state AtomChip optoelectronics". A new "non-volatile Quantum-Optical" type of RAM is used. Other features include voice commands, "Num Lock mode, Caps Lock mode, Scroll Lock mode.
  • Game piracy outlook bleak for near-term - The problem can't all be blamed on the Internet, of course. Piracy of "hard goods" alone -- games that are illegally replicated onto physical media like CDs and DVDs -- is said to cost $3 billion annually. Add online piracy to the mix and the losses to publishers and retailers balloons to -- well, no one really knows.
  • IFA 2005 Reality Check - So today is the last day of the IFA 2005
  • British Talk Doom Movie - British actress Rosamund Pike was a little worried her first action movie was going to be rubbish as the delightfully British newspaper The Sun put it. Fortunately, the movie was Doom…oh, crap.
  • Nanotech researchers build brawny molecules - A breakthrough in nanotechnology could hasten the development of molecular machines that can act as artificial muscles or drug delivery systems in the body. Chemists at Scotland's Edinburgh University said Wednesday they have built molecules that can move objects larger than the size of an atom in an advance in the technology that deals with manipulating materials on a minuscule scale.
  • Hydrogen storage - The hopes of using hydrogen as an energy carrier are severely damped by the fact that there is still no safe, high-density method available for storing hydrogen. AMMINEX uses a new concept for hydrogen storage. Hydrogen is delivered from an integrated system containing the AMMINEX storage material. The proprietary solid storage material holds more than 9 weight-% hydrogen.
  • Harry Potter 4, Corpse Bride Pics & More - Warner Bros. Pictures has released almost 130 new images from three of their upcoming films of which a massive 58 are from the anticipated Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

  • BF2 Exploit Warning Again - The official Battlefield 2 website has an update repeating a warning about dedicated stat-padding ranked recently sent to EA's ranked server partners: " It has come to our attention that some groups that have rented ranked servers from our partners have chosen to set aside normal gameplay and enforce exploitation of the game logic. This violates EA's "Ranked Server" policy and will not be tolerated. Groups found to be encouraging this behavior on ranked servers that they have leased risk having their servers de-listed and potentially being prohibited from leasing a Ranked server from any of our partners."

That name alone would be enough to get the millions of PC gamers that played the original onto the DS platform. piracy of software is like drugs, no matter what you do you can't stop it. but might as well keep chucking millions and billions of taxpayers money at it to try and stop it. lmao.. as long as software companies keep gouging people or releasing half assed games, i see no end to piracy.

I still believe piracy will continue, even if everything was hunky dory and wasn't half assed, there will still be people who want it for nothing.

Wrong again, its Wednesday :D

I seem to have a hard time with time perception. Maybe that's not the right word for it. It works both ways.

Sometimes I'll think I have plenty of time to do something so I get started on it at a very inappropriate time. This is often something I begin in the evening. I'll end up staying up into the wee hours of the morning with my activity or project because I started when I should have instead been winding down for the day.....

Just as often, I will have plenty of time to do something but think that I don't have time to get started. If I don't get an errand started early in the morning, it often doesn't get done because if I wait until afternoon, I tell myself that I don't have time to get it done :)

Can anyone relate to this?

Most adults with ADHD are plagued by chronic lateness and poor organization skills. This problem leads many toward traditional time management concepts. I believe that our problems are much more basic in nature. I believe we have a deficiency in our perception of time itself, which must be addressed first. There are probably many neuro-biological reasons for this problem. Personally, I think that our minds race at speeds much faster than the world actually works, distorting our perception of time. We are "big picture" as opposed to "detail" oriented. Consequently, we frequently under estimate time in real terms. Our natural tendency to "space out" or get lost in our minds further removes us from the passage of time. Whatever the reasons, it is imperative to develop the ability to capture abstract concepts such as time and make them tangible. This is the first step to managing them.

Sounds like me all over, and my work suffers because of it.

2TB storage eh. It seems strange that this little company has developed the technology while companies like Seagate and Western Digital are trying to squeeze the last juice out of SATA II. I want to see some benchmarks...
