This is a joke right?
I think people would know how to increase their TV brightness levels, and who was the idiotic coder that forgot to include a brightness level in the game?

actually your wrong, when you increase the brightness lvl on your tv it increases the brightness of ALL colors, not just the dark ones. Thats why this is an issue. Because if you raise it too high then all the bright colors start to bleed and the mid tones become too bright.

Then you just reduce or increase the contrast in-conjunction with the brightness to balance it out, there shouldn't be any problems unless the game is rediculously dark throughout. Your cause for concern is only noticeable when brightness levels are on their highest setting, which hopefully no one is silly enough to use anyways.
Colour bleeding only occurs when people use cheap RF cables for their video.
Also, most old tube TV's tend to be very bright by default.
The best advice would be to play the game in a room with the curtain's drawn, as natural sun-light reflecting off the screen is the main culprit for ruining dark games.
You can also buy sheets to put over the screen to reduce glare, this usually helps significantly to provide a more defined image if the TV has strong contrast.
