I never agreed with the direction of Unreal2, right from the start. I was still at Legend during the concept and design stages of Unreal2 and I constantly brought up points about "Why aren't we using more of the Unreal universe?", "Why aren't we using the Unreal weapons?" and "Why are Aida's breasts so large and why is she dressed like a stripper. All of these were met with snorts and guffaws as though I was talking utter nonsense. When I left for Epic, I tried to continue voicing my opinions but it was tough to make any headway from the outside ... so I gave up. I don't think Unreal2 is a bad game necessarily, I just don't think it's an "Unreal Universe" game. It has almost nothing in common with the original Unreal and the elements that ARE there were pretty much forced down Legends throat (Epic had final say in everything about the game, so we were able to get at least some of our ideas through). I really think if Legend wanted to do their own space marine game they should have just done it and not tried to attach the "Unreal" name to it for no apparent reason. If you're going to try to stand on the shoulders of an existing franchise, USE IT. I would have loved to have seen a return to Na Pali with the new graphics engine. A reunion with the Nali and Skaarj conflict and perhaps a deeper look into that. I dunno ... there had to be a 100 ways to incorporate the Unreal franchise into that game in a meaningful way, but they were all ignored. I think Unreal2 is a very pretty, very generic, run-and-gun shooter that could have been a lot more. Now, for the stupid, let me point out that the above is MY opinion. It does not necessarily reflect the opinions of Epic Games or anyone associated with the game on any level. Thank you.
