Vivisector Preview - preview/review

Guys at ShackNews has written a new preview of Vivisector: Creatures of Dr. Moreau, Action Forms' (Chasm: The Rift, Carnivores) upcoming first person shooter with Serious Sam style gameplay. The preview is based on a test version of the game. Here is a excerpt:
After the brief action in the level Storm, you end up on Noble Island. Following a green beam in the sky, you see a Electrenna munching on a body. As you approach this ModBeast creature, it runs away which is a good thing as you're unarmed. However you hook up with the equipment of the dead person, which provides you with a HUD including a map of the island. You also find yourself equipped with a knife and a gun. You continue your walk and get to the waypoint. These waypoints serve as save points and also provide you with much needed health and ammo. All these waypoints emit a green beam so from a distance you know you are going the right way, though for parts you need to rely on your map. As you continue to run to the next waypoint, more Electrennas spawn at random. Once you get to your fourth waypoint, a new cutscene starts which shows a plane crashing. So much for a rescue party. Looking for survivors, you meet some new creatures, the Flameuars. Yes, flame emitting jaguars. These creatures can be pretty tough so you'll have to aim well -- standing still will help you shoot more accurately -- and use your health packages wisely.
Now, this level is massive. The developer estimate it will take a first time player probably an hour and a half to complete. It took me about an hour, so it depends on how easily you can take out the ModBeasts and if you get stuck anywhere. Everytime you get kind of bored, a new ModBeast is introduced or you get a new weapon. Aside from the knife and hand gun, I managed to get my hands on a shotgun, M16 and M60. [more]
