Moose: Will they release a UT2004 Demo and give the community a couple of weeks to test it and report bugs/suggestions?

What are the 'compatiblity' issues for 2k3 and 2k4 exactly?

Will there be a free UT2004 Linux Server download like there was for UT1 and UT2003?

Answer: The 2k4 Demo will be released well before the main game ships. I feel from talking to them they really didn't want to release 2k3 so soon after the demo but outside forces may have had a hand in that. They still remember all of the negative feedback they got last year.

The compatibility is easy to figure out. If you have UT2004 you will be able to play o­n ANY 2k3 or 2k4 server. UT2003 players will o­nly be able to play o­n UT2003 servers. The o­nly requirement is that the 2k3 Server must be running the latest patch. What this means is that the next UT2003 patch will break Network Compatibility just like they did in UT1. To implement the new Network Code and Voice over IP they had to break free from the older code.

Yes there will be a full free Linux server version availble. At this time they are trying to have a simultaneous lauch when the main game goes live.
