French website www.ut2k3.fr has conducted an interview (fully in English) with Epic Games' Steve Polge as he talks about Unreal Tournament 2004. Here's a slice:
Q: Which improvements were brought to the AI in general? How do the bots use the vehicules? Do mappers need to place navigation paths specialy for the bot-driven vehicules or are they autonomous?

A:Vehicles use the same paths as pawns on foot. We have added a couple of new pathnode types to make pathing large terrain areas easier. In addition to AI support for the new game types, the bots have been significantly improved in their tactical play as well as team coordinaton and strategy in DM, CTF, BR, and DDOM. For example, bots now understand and use wall dodging and dodging to move around a map faster.

Still years behind Tribes. UT2K3 fails on so many levels. Tribes interface, gameplay, and chatsystem is far and above any current fps out there and its five years old. The only thing current fps have over Tribes is eyecandy. Hopefully HL2 will bring some new life to fps.

HL2 will be just as boring as any other FPS. There is no feeling in todays games. Just eye-candy. Once upon a time the game developers were FORCED to make a good story/game because the graphic couldnt be any good. Today its all graphic 0 story and feeling.

Disappointing to see the screen shots are using the same graphic technology, the powerup pills remain on the ground therefore there is really nothing new here, its merely but add on level pack. Makes me remmember what happened with Team arena where the addon pack flopped while Quake 3 still remains a strong game today.
