"Due to some miscommunication, the news story regarding the release date of Unreal II is incorrect," stated head of PR at Infogrames UK Simon Callaghan today. "It is not slated for a worldwide release of early 2003 as was printed. Infogrames US has always been aware that Unreal II is down for, and has always been down for, a release date before the end of the calendar year 2002 in the US." However, it looks as though those of us in Europe are still going to have to wait until next year for Unreal II. "We [Europe] haven't got as solid a release date as the US has at present," Callaghan ended up by saying, "and Unreal II is still down as 'to be confirmed', but expected early 2003."
Actually it will probably take less than 10 days to start appearing in stores in the USA. It could be as early as next Friday. I know the replicators are going to be churning out discs all weekend! It turns out one of the really big replicators (i.e. CD manufacturing plants) is about 5 hours away from here. At around 3:30 this morning I was getting ready to hop in my car and drive two sets of discs over there and we called Fedex Same-day Service and they said they could get them there by 2:15PM this afternoon which is earlier than they were expecting them anyway for production starting tomorrow so we sent them Fedex Same-day. Another set went to Infogrames in California and another set went to another replicator in Illinois. Someone will hand-carry the discs from the Beverly, Massachusetts to Sony replicating in Austria later tonight or tomorrow so Europe shouldn't be too far behind.
