Shack: How many characters are in there in Unreal Championship 2, and are they different in their abilities in any way? Mike Capps: Character differentiation is an important change in direction for UC2. It really brings in a really nice fighting game feel, but most importantly, huge re-playability. You can go back to the same arena with the same weapons and game rules, and have a totally different experience by choosing different characters. We have 14 playable characters in the game, and they're very different in the way they play. We have hulking Skaarj warriors, who fight with their claws, and have adrenaline abilities like a spinning burst of blades, regeneration, and a predator-like vision mode. On the other end of the spectrum are super-nimble Necris female assassins, who fight with nanoblack-dripping swords and dual enforcer semi-auto pistols, and have adrenaline abilities that drain health from their enemies, or change them into a shadowy wraith. And of course Raiden [from Mortal Kombat], who fights with his staff, and can teleport in the arena.
