One of the game’s biggest innovations should be the ability to create "private areas" within Ultima X, which will enable player groups to complete quests without having to worry about certain unsavory characters who will try to go after other players. This feature will also be used for Player vs. Player conflict as well, which should eliminate the need for dedicated PvP servers.

While players will not be able to transfer characters from Ultima Online to Ultima X, there will be some kind of support for player guilds. The development team is promising support for guild organization and communication. Player owned land will not be a part of Ultima X, at least at first, and as far as people selling their Ultima X player characters and items for real money on places like eBay, the development team is taking a "don't ask, don't tell" approach like they have done for Ultima Online.
