  • Blacksite: Area 51 Interview - FiringSquad has posted an interview with Midway Austin's studio head Harvey Smith as he taks about BlackSite: Area 51, their upcoming PC-PS3-Xbox 360 first-person shooter. He said: " The current demo is more a gameplay teaser because it's very short. It's essentially our vertical slice, polished up some. Later, we hope to release a full demo shortly before we ship."
  • Savage 2: A Tortured Soul Interview - ShackNews has conducted an interview with S2 Games co-founder Marc DeForest talking about  of Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, their upcoming FPS-RTS hybrid game sequel: "It's kind of an RTS and kind of an FPS put together, but not in the traditional format that most gamers play. You had a bunch of guys who could get into ships and attempt to blow up the enemy base, fight other ships, and so on and so forth. You had a commander--and not in the traditional sense of a top-down view, seeing all the buildings--but you could see the overall battlefield, move around freely, zoom out and zoom in, send out different miners to bring in resources, research new technologies, new spaceships."
  • Gore Map - The Gore: Ultimate Soldier website now offers a new Gore map called Metal Muse for purchase. Word is "This is a large map which has plenty of fighting room for packed 16 player games, but with areas built to focus players into key areas and encourage fights with nowhere to get lost and nowhere to hide. Despite being built for full servers we have had plenty of fun in deathmatch playtesting with only three players. Also unique to this map is design and scale of some areas to encourage use of bullet weapons during fighting rather than nonstop use of rockets."
  • Doom 3 Mod Last Man Standing Coop Version 4.0 - There are way too many fixes and features to list in this news post but here are some of my favorites:Lots of lag tweaks,Ragdoll fixes, in game scoreboard now shows the high scores, a new scoring system, Boss health is displayed.
  • Spider-Man: Friend or Foe Revealed - A new teaser web site has launched today announcing Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, a previously unannounced new Spider-Man game from Activision.
  • Test Drive Unlimited 2? - GRY-OnLine.pl claims that they've uncovered that Test Drive Unlimited 2 is currently in production, to be released for PC and Xbox 360 in March 2008. They also predict the game will introduce off-road racing, dynamic weather, and over 2400 km of roads. They say the source of this information is anonymous, but claim the news is "100% reliable." Oh well.
  • Unreal Tournament 3 Teaser Site Launched - The official teaser web site for Unreal Tournament 3 has launched, promoting the upcoming "when its done" multiplayer shooter from developer Epic Games and publisher Midway.

    Square Enix Unreal Engine 3 Game Revealed - Game Informer magazine has revealed that the Square Enix Unreal Engine 3 title will be called The Last Remnant. This is an all new franchise for the Final Fantasy-Dragon Quest developer/publisher and will be a single player RPG and will try to appeal more to North American audiences.
  • Transformers: The Game Cybertron Edition Announced - The special edition for Xbox 360, which will only be sold at EBGames and Gamestop stores, will have two exclusive "Cybertron" levels (one for Autobot and one for Decepticon players) along with behind-the-scenes features, the first issue of the movie prequel comic book published by IDW and special packaging "featuring classic Transformers icons and images of Cybertron". The special Cybertron edition will cost $69.99.
  • Blizzard Plots Mobile Takeover - World of Warcraft and StarCraft developer Blizzard Entertainment is branching out into mobile development, according to a series of new listings on its job site. Three listings for mobile-related positions popped up last week--a mobile producer to oversee "the process of bringing Blizzard-IP-related functions into the mobile space," a lead software engineer to "lead a mobile development programming team," and a lead mobile UI designer to "help lead our efforts in the mobile space."
  • PS3 price could drop $100 due to Blue-Ray diode supply - DigiTimes reports that Sony's blue-violet laser diode manufacturing plant will increase production and this could, "according to Taiwan-based makers of game consoles and components," drop the PS3 price by $100. Now let's see if those savings are passed on to consumers.
  • Analyst: PS3 Will Still Win The Console War - Gamasutra is reporting that game industry analyst Michael Pachter still believes that Sony's Playstation 3 will win the current console war, although Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360 will come in a close second and third.

I just picked up Test Drive unlimited for the PC this week and can't get enough of it. The physics are not perfect but they are definately good enough to prevent from marring an otherwise really good game. Nothing like overtaking traffic on the shoulder at 300kmh and then being hunted like a mass child muderer by the cops lol. And I enjoy having a personalised character too :) I will buy TDU2 in an instant!

n00b racing game. Map is nice, true depiction of the actual place.. Physics suck, car control about same if not worse than NFS. Car customizations are essentially non-existent nowhere near what you can do in NFS. Cops are dumb as hell, you can get away from cops in seconds especially when you have a decent car. Traffic is more just eye candy and does nothing really to obstruct you. Crashing+physics are sick and very unrealistic as well. This game has graphics going for it and not much else. I finished this game before it even hit store shelves and only cuz I was truly bored. 6.5/10 but a decent follow up to a very old series...Took me approx 4 nights to finish the game. My overall best comment was the location/environment was very cool and realistic but even that wore off pretty quick and the game was no challenge at all to finish. Was glad I didn't buy it.
