all nationalities, though the initial tournaments held in 2010 and all
of the finals will take place in Seoul, South Korea. TeamLiquid.net reports that the
total prize money for the 2010 edition of the GSL is $500,00 which they
claim "the most amount of money in the history of e-sports." Monthly
tournaments will be held starting in late August with the grand prize
winner getting $85,700. The tournaments of 2010 will serve to rank the
players for the 2011 edition of the GSL. All of the monthly tournaments
will be broadcast globally. In related news, the US based pro gaming
organization Major League Gaming has announced that StarCraft II has
been added to the league's roster of game titles. The first MLG event

take a guess then Ultimate Edition will likely include all expansions
and add-ons released to date.
- Killzone 3 Beta Site Launches; Beta Test Likely - It
could always be a test of the game's companion website. A Sony
representative informed Shacknews that 'Guerrilla Games is
currently testing a number of elements internally with Killzone 3 and
further details will be available soon.' A beta test was conducted for
Killzone 2 prior to that game's release and it stands to reason that
Killzone 3 would be tested as well. It remains to be seen if a beta, if
planned, will be one of the bonuses included with a PlayStation Plus
subscription as one of the advertised features is priority betas. The
game, which will support PlayStation Move and stereoscopic 3D, is
scheduled to be released in February 2011.
- Sparkplay Media to shut down - It looks
like yet another free-to-play MMO is close to shutting down, barring a
last minute reprieve. On Sunday the
official Earth Eternal website posted up a message from Matt
Mihaly, the CEO of the game's developer Sparkplay Media. In short, he
stated that the company has run out of money, laid off nearly all of
its employees (only he and one other team member remain) and the game
itself could shut down unless someone else agrees to acquire it and
keep it running.
