Treyarch on Black Ops PC Updates - briefly
(hx) 11:21 PM CET - Dec,04 2010 - Post a comment / read (7)
Treyarch has updated its Call of Duty: Black Ops PC patch post with some details on changes its working on for future updates. Among the issues that are to be corrected in future patches are improved performances on PCs that have only two core processors, some updates to many of the game's multiplayer maps and increasing reserve slots to nine such slots. There's no word on when the next patches will be released.
We are listening to you and we’ve been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community. We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned right here for all the latest info.
IN PROGRESS

 * Added an option to create shaders during load time. This fixes hitching when viewing a new area of the map for the first time on some video cards.
 * Incomplete server browser results.
 * Improvements to Quickmatch results (with better ping and reduced lag)..
 * /connect
 * /reconnect
 * Improved threading performance on computers with only 2 cores.
 * Fixed random freezes in certain computer configurations.
 * Increased reserved slots to 9.
 * Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared – in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match
 * Weekly and Monthly leaderboards will now track all kills, deaths and assists properly (All Time leaderboards were not affected by this)
 * Prevention of killstreak selection getting disabled in Combat Training under rare conditions
 * Array: Added collision to prevent players from partially clipping into a tree
 * Launch: Added collision to prevent players from strafe jumping onto an invisible ledge at the base of the rocket near B3
 * Summit: Added collision to prevent players from jumping to a location outside of the map boundary when in Custom Games where player speed is maxed out
 * Havana: Added collision to prevent players from jumping onto an invisible ledge above a doorway at C2
 * Nuketown: Adjusted a spawn point that would spawn players on top of a mannequin’s head when that mannequin was randomly spawned in that location
 * Launch: User could access a small platform outside of the intended play space below the rocket gantry by jumping to a very specific location; now blocked from access
 * Launch: User could access a small area inside geometry at vents near Dom flag A by going prone and moving around in a very specific location; now blocked from access
 * Some users reported that weapon attachment challenges were not resetting after prestige; now all are guaranteed to clear as soon as selecting the prestige option
 * Radar sweep when there are only 2 players left in One in the Chamber will stop functioning if the 2 players have multiple lives when the sweep starts
 * Villa: User can clip into rock at west edge of grid zone B2 and see through to the other side
 * Crisis: User can clip into LVT between grid zone A3 and B3 and see through to the other side
 * User can get an infinite number of ‘Sam Turret’, ‘Care Package’ and ‘Sentry Gun’ killstreaks (commonly referred to as the “care package glitch”)

For anyone considering this game I hope this helps.

1. Highly consider getting it for console.
2. PC is a chopfest and it doesn't matter your cpu or gpu, it's choppy as hell.
3. PC is infested with cheats and by that I mean, the aimbot source sites on the net are getting record downloads for this game. It's a free for all to cheat on Black Ops.
4. Like #3, each map has exploits and shitty attitude people playing on PC are using them to the n'th degree.
5. Despite the nice appearance of this fix list, PC is getting very little attention. These guys barely even participate in the community.

Console controls may not be nice as the keyboard+mouse combo but when you consider the above it's miles better overall. I have a PS3 version and PC and lately I haven't touched PC, just is absolutely no fun. It's very second rate.

I got it on 360 and it plays well, have to say I am starting to wonder whether I need a gaming PC any more, as much as I love it and as much as I dislike joy pads the hassle with gaming on the PC is starting to wear me down.

There will always be PC and Console exclusives so both plats will always have support. For myself and MANY of my associates a PC has its place while the console has its own. When both cross, I always now expect the PC to be lackluster supported. Thats ok though as thats the latest gaming biz happening these days. PC games do it for me -- I just never get into consoles (too spoon-fed, dumbed-down, and generally mindless) but of course there is always room for that when you want to "lay it all out" and just frick'n have fun. So PCs will be stay around -- there is simply too much new h/w to grow there but maybe someday it will be more than niche.

This is about Black Op's which is not an exclusive for anything. Quite simply, the PC version sucks. What's the use of high end graphic cards if all they are used for is benchmarks and crap quality consolized bugged up versions of games?

Thudo(03:46 AM CET - Dec,06 2010 )
Maybe because the game devs could give more than a sh*t to work at least a few lazy months to optimize the PC version? Its pretty clear: the industry isn't about tweaking/optimizing for the PC platform anymore as its about the mighty $$$$$$$.$$ now. Not a bad thing I suppose as money talks but the PC version of most console ports is basically a "tard muffin" of their console counterparts due to lazy development.

I quite liked the game to be honest, i am not much of a console gamer, though i did get Fable II and III on the 360, didn't want to wait for the pc version.

For me, Black Ops is totally smooth for me, not sure why its slow for you, maybe you need to upgrade your system?

The game was good as is, granted there were bugs and when is there ever a game that has no bugs at all and alot of you seem to moan and cry about how short the game was.........you do know it was a FPS game right? its meant to be short, but sweet, which it was, i have already finished it 20 times and its yet to get old.

If you want a good storyline and long game, go play some RPGs, like Mass Effect or something, that lasts for like 40hrs if you take your time like you should.

It just seems like you guys complain regardless, you want every game to look as good as crysis, as long as Mass Effect and have a story as good as Mass Effect, sorry, but that will never happen, the last open-ended FPS game i played was Farcry 2 and that outright sucked to me, Crysis looked good, but thats all it had, gameplay sucked, can't moan about story, since its a FPS, not a RPG.

Well I am happy for you that it works great on PC. Unfortunately on PC you are what I believe, a minority. Based on the fact the game is made from the W@W engine and doesn't do anything much more graphically there is no reason at all to upgrade my hardware. I exceed all the requirements for the game. It runs silky smooth on my PS3 so I will continue to monitor the boards and when people start saying it's not a chopfest anymore I'll take a look at playing it on PC again.
