Toshiba to launch first glasses-free 3D TV - tech
(hx) 06:48 PM CEST - Aug,24 2010 - Post a comment / read (3)
According to Breitbart, Toshiba is jumping ahead with its plans to bring goggle-free 3D to your living room and expects to have the first sets available for purchase later this year following disappointing initial sales of 3D televisions which require special glasses to view:
The company has developed a new system that emits a number of rays of light with various angles from the screen so that viewers can see stereoscopic images without glasses, the daily said.

"People can enjoy images in three dimensions from various positions and suffer less stress," it said. Japan's major electronics makers launched 3D television this year, but sales have not been as strong as expected while many customers have complained of being irritated by the glasses.

However, a Toshiba spokeswoman said: "We are not in a position to make any announcement."

Glasses = Gheyness. Wow has technology progressed so far we still need glasses? gheyness simple as that.

3D = Who cares and it's just another means for them to gouge customers.

My TV ain't 3D and I don't give a shit. Toshiba is not making an announcement probably because their system sucks.

Well I am looking to buy a new telly before Christmas but it won't be a Toshiba one and it won't be 3D, I am sure it will be cool but I just don't think 3D is that great yes Avatar was very pretty in 3D but it didn't distract me from the fact the story was crap. I might buy an N3DS when it comes out but that's as far as it goes until 3DTV's are the norm.

I intentionally saw avatar in 2D and it was perfectly fine. The story wasn't fantastic but it was entertaining and that's what it's all about isn't it? Cameron is a liar too because I know for a fact only parts of Avatar were shot in 3D, he converted a lot of it to 3D. To have filmed it completely in 3D would have blown his budget.
