The Q&A focuses on very technical details about graphics engine development,
sure to be a help to anyone writing a doctoral thesis on the advantages of
sparse voxel octree-based technology. He also admits "the uncomfortable
truth" that consoles are the driving force behind game development, so "it's
difficult to set things up so that you can do much to leverage the really
extreme high end desktop settings." He also talks about the pros and cons of
multi-CPU and multi-GPU systems, making it clear that problems taking
advantage of these technologies are due to bigger issues than simple growing

- Unreal Engine 4 Interview -
Tim Sweeney revealed that "Version 4 will exclusively target the next
console generation, Microsoft's successor for the Xbox 360, Sony's successor
for the Playstation 3 - and if Nintendo ships a machine with similar
hardware specs, then that also. PCs will follow after that. "

- Crysis 2 isn't called Crysis 2 - The sequel to
Crysis looks like it'll be titled "Crysis Warhead." Then again, it might
also be the title of the console version of Crysis, or even the name of an
expansion. They also tradmarked protection of "Crysis Wars" and "World in
Crysis" so we will see what it ends up being called.
- Dark Salvation Revealed -
Dark
Salvation Teaser website is online for a freeware Quake III-engine
shooter from Mangled Eye Studios due for release sometime this year,
following seven years of development.
- Crysis Hotfix Nears -
Crysis Weekly Update #7 reveals that the developers are still working on
the complete server documentation, and that the hotfix for the recently
revealed security hole is nearing release as it undergoes final QA testing.
- EVE Online Patch v1.1 -
Titled Trinity 1.1: Boost Patch the expansion adds some improvements to
a number of ships in the game along with improvements to the game's
marketplace, in-game voice and other new improvements and bug fixes
- Sins Of A Solar Empire Patch v1.03 - Ironclad Games have released
a
new patch for Sins of a Solar Empire bringing their popular real-time
space strategy game to
version 1.03. The update includes significantly updated computer AI,
lots of new game setup options, as well as various gameplay tweaks and
enhancements.
- Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn 14-Day Trial Client -
Kingdom Reborn is a complete make-over of Ultima Online with a new
graphics engine, a state-of-the-art user interface and enough new content

- WorldShift Open Beta - Black Sea Studios announces
open beta testing is underway for WorldShift, their upcoming real-time

- Shadowbane Reboot Coming Soon - The long-running fantasy MMO
will be getting a "reboot" on March 25, which basically will wipe the
game world clean and start players at square one in the game. The reboot
will allow the game's developers at Stray Bullet Games to update the title.
- Assassin's Creed PC Delays - PC edition of the stealthy action
game

now expected on April 8, 2008
- Atari Joins Steam -
Atari games have started to appear on a Steam client near you. Available
right now are the following Atari titles: Act of War: Direct Action, Act of
War: High Treason, ArmA: Combat Operations, Atari 80 Classics in 1, Death to
Spies, Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum,
Tycoon CityT: New York. The Witcher, Neverwinter Nights 2, and the
expansion to NWN 2, Mask of the Betrayer, will also be coming to Steam soon.
- EA Explains Army of Two's Region Lock - EA Montreal's
Reid Schneider states that the region lock was necessary to help
maintain network stability in multiplayer matches.
- Motorstorm 2 Officially Revealed (PS3) - The official
Playstation blog site has officially announced plans to release Motorstorm 2,
the upcoming sequel to the PS3 off-road racing game from developer
Revolution Software. The game is due for release this fall.
- Activision Sued By Gibson Guitar Over Guitar Hero -
Guitar maker Gibson has filed a lawsuit against Guitar Hero publisher
Activision. Gibson said the games, in which players press buttons on a
guitar-shaped controller in time with notes on a TV screen, violates a 1999
patent for technology to simulate a musical performance.
- No Blu-Ray For Xbox 360? -
An Xbox executive claims that Microsoft is not interested in producing a
Blu-Ray Xbox 360 drive.What do you guys think about this? Personaly I don't
like HD-DVD nor Blue-Ray. I would prefer something else.
