FYI, a single-player demo for Dawn of War: Winter Assault is planned for release later today ~ at 3:00 pm EDT!

Here's some stuff:
  • PlayStation 3 price still being debated - Sony Computer Entertainment executive says next-gen price point still undetermined; explains dearth of playable PS3 games at TGS 2005.
  • PSP 2.0 to 1.5 Downgrader - Well if you haven't heard by now there has been a hole found in the 2.0 firmware that allows you to run small portions of code. And with this hole some very clever people have made it possible for 2.0 PSP's to be succesfully downgraded to 1.5.
  • nVidia Graphic Processors for F/A-18... The Fighter, not the Computer Game - Honeywell International, Inc. Defense and Space Electronic Systems in Albuquerque, NM received a $5.2 million firm-fixed-price contract for a Life of Type buy of 7,020 Quantum 3D/nVidia graphic processors. The chips to be used in the image processor module within the advanced mission computer for the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet fighter and EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft.
  • AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ Details - Coming in the first half of next year, AMD will show the world their new M2 Socket, designed for the next line of X2 and FX CPUs. Details on one of the first CPUs for the socket are available, the Athlon64 X2 5000+, a 2667Mhz CPU running on a blistering 333Mhz FSB with dual 1MB L2 cache!
  • The $100 laptop moves closer to reality - Nicholas Negroponte, the co-founder of the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, detailed specifications for a $100 windup-powered laptop targeted at children in developing nations.
  • Fuel Cell available before end of year from LG - LG will probably be one of the first manufacturers to commercialize their Fuel Cell products, and this will probably happen before the end of this year. According to some news on the LG Chem website, their 1 litre fuel cells will be able to provide 4000 hours of energy, and that is (still according to LG) 8 times more than what the competition will provide.
  • Polymer Vision Flexible Electronic Paper - The flexible epaper used in the Philips Readius is from a company called Polymer Vision (kind of a Philips Spin-off). The bendable electronic paper from Polymer Vision is based on organic/polymer TFTs. Those TFTs are applied to a plastic substrate with a low temperature method. The substrate and the TFT layer are only 25 μm thick.
  • Open your car with your watch - Toyota will release a watch that, besides displaying the time, can be used to lock and unlock your car. Really clean design, and it will cost 300 EUR.
  • Sonion Launches World's Smallest Microphone - Sonion this week launched the DigiSiMic microphone, the world's smallest digital, silicon microphone. With a footprint of only 2.6 x 1.6 mm squared the DigiSiMic is ideal for applications where minimum microphone size is key, such as very small mobile phones
  • The Million Dollar Home Page review - Alex Tew, a 21 year old student from the UK launched a page called MillionDollarHomePage.com. He is selling 10x10 pixel block banners for $100. He has 1,000,000 pixels available. If he sells all his pixel inventory, he has made a cool Million Dollar. Now you might think, that never works. He already sold 180,500 pixels ($180,500). On September 22nd when BBC News reported about the million dollar homepage, he was at $74,000. His sales more than doubled in less than 6 days.

that COD thing, total BS. I have a 256MB card and I'm running at 1280x and my fps is NOT 25. That's complete and utter BS. I RAISED my resolution from 1024x768 because I felt I had the room based on my performance and moving to 1280x has resulted in NO slowdown. That review is complete BS, beyond the fact the game takes advantage of 512MB. Sure, hopefully in a well written game developers should have the brains to use all your video memory. But in terms of these charts on COD2, complete BS. Obviously the guy who wrote that review has a real POS configured computer. That's all I can think to be so wrong.

lol, I am using a standard X800XT and I have higher fps than any of the cards in either of those screenshots. How come these different groups’ benchmarks for different games are rarely accurate (if ever) and usually totally misleading?

Resolution: 1920x1200
Everything Else: Maxed Out
