Google, using
optical character-recognition technology, can now scan PDF files, turn
them back into text and make them available as search results via the 'View
as HTML' link. By turning images of text into text, Google expands its
already massive index

The Sinowal trojan has been tracked by RSA, which helps to secure
networks in Fortune 500 companies. RSA said the trojan virus has infected
computers all over the planet

Users can SMS
their existing Gmail chat contacts by opening a chat window and
selecting the option to send an SMS. Once you enter their phone numbers, it
will save the digits in your contact entries
- Retrial Date Set for $222,000 Piracy Judgment -
The retrial for the RIAA's landmark $222,000 judgment against Duluth,
Minnesota woman Jammie Thomas will begin March 9, after a federal judge
tossed out the original verdict last month. In a first-of-its-kind four day
trial last October, a jury found Thomas liable for copyright infringement at
a rate of $9,250 per song. Of the 1,700 songs files that the RIAA said
Thomas made available, it elected to seek damages on 24 of them – from
artists such as AFI, Green Day, and Aerosmith – reaching the breathtaking
grand total of $222,000.
