  • Windows Live Movie Maker 14 released - Microsoft released their newest version of Windows Live Movie Maker. Windows Live Movie Maker allows for direct upload to both YouTube and Facebook (though plug-ins). Users are also able to burn straight to DVD, play video on high definition (HD) televisions and save in a variety of standard and high definition resolutions - 480i, 720i, 720p and 1080p. Auto Movie allows users to easily create a video automatically in under one minute using selected images, captions, a title and soundtrack to go along with the slides.
  • Delphi Programs Targeted by Virus - Security researchers at Sophos & SonicWall have discovered a virus in the wild that has a very specific target: programs written in Delphi. The virus, which doesn't appear to have a payload, inserts itself into the Delphi source code and then compiles itself into a finished executable.

  • Researchers crack network latency nut with new algorithm -  Issues with latency and dropped packets can kill a network's performance and cripple applications like real-time communications, scientific computing, and high-frequency trading. But the problems can be extremely difficult to diagnose, as they may not appear under test conditions, and real-time monitoring of performance can require dedicated hardware or procedures that actually cut into the usable bandwidth. A team of academic researchers have come up with what they think is a solution, one that could sample the transmission of a collection of representative packets in real time, in a manner that's inexpensive in terms of both hardware and networking resources. Unfortunately, it appears that it would require an extension to an IEEE standard that's only been adopted recently, as well as dedicated processing hardware.

  • Volkswagen recalls 13,500 DSG-equipped 2009-2010 models over sensor - Anybody who bought a Volkswagen in North America in the past year with a DSG gearbox will want to keep an eye on their mailbox in the coming weeks for a note from the home office in Herndon, Virginia. It seems there is an issue with a temperature sensor in the dual clutch transmission. Problematic sensors can give erroneous readings that cause warning lamps in the cluster to turn on or send the transmission into neutral. The quick-shifting DSG is a popular option in the Jetta sedan, Sportwagen, GTI and Eos convertible. A total of 13,500 cars built between September 2008 and August 2009 are being brought in for inspection and possible repair.

of course the lilst fails to mention that vista and windows 7 support ASLR wich is a hugh security advantage over xp. only the upcoming snow leopard is said to implement full ASLR too.

i mean i wouldnt buy windows 7, but you can easily download it today and even activate it with automatic updates...

Win7 RC good until July 2010 so no need to rush to store. It's funny people are reviewing it now and judging it on CPU etc. When I run Win7 with a huge amount of games and apps I find, unlike Vista, Win7 doesn't slow down. These tests don't really test for how people use it. It's fresh out the door. Vista out the door barely even installed on peoples computers. Win7, other than putting in your key I can't remember another question. It impressed me with it's snappier performance in terms of moving around the gui. Win7 will eventually be something you have to go to. Games etc are all going to be using it's features. I'll wait to get it in July next year.
