Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB naked, tested -
Instead of twelve memory chips the card has ten of them
. Ten times thirty two gives you 320MB of memory. The card scores 28000 in 3Dmark03, 15000 at 3Dmark05 and 8800 in 3Dmark06. In games it pulls more than 100 FPS at 16x12. It looks fast to me.
ATI DX10 R600 Pictures? -

of AMD-ATI's upcoming R600 graphics card.
A look at Asus' Vista Edition motherboard features -
Getting ReadyBoost working on the M2N32-SLI Premium is as easy
as installing the ASAP driver that comes with the board. ReadyBoost defaults to using 431MB of the onboard flash drive's available capacity, but since this isn't a removable drive, you might as well let ReadyBoost use the whole thing.
Nvidia invites users to report Vista driver bugs -
In addition to announcing its new plans to switch to a monthly driver update schedule,
the company has put up a quality assurance page
on its website. The page contains links to Vista drivers for GeForce FX, GeForce 6, GeForce 7, and GeForce 8 graphics cards as well as nForce4, nForce 500, and nForce 600 series chipsets
Vista vs XP with NVIDIA -
Clearly NVIDIA's Windows Vista drivers still need a lot of work
. Features are missing, and end users running into bugs and other issues with games and other software applications. Then there's the performance problem.

Microsoft: Vista follow-up likely in 2009 -
With Vista just out the door,
Microsoft is now drawing up plans to deliver its follow-up client
operating system by the end of 2009, according to the executive in charge of building the product's core components. Hah, nice way to stop people upgrading to Vista. If they are going to have a new one soon and I was purchasing a computer right now, I'd opt for the stability of XP and hold out upgrading until the next OS version.
How to Build a Wireless Network Using a Broadband Router -
A step-by-step guide
on how to build your own wireless network using a wireless broadband router.
Firefox 3 Alpha 2 -
Mozilla's latest pre-release version of its browser remains buggy
, but performance enhancements give us reason to get excited.
Install Windows Vista in a dual-boot configuration along with Windows XP -
Greg Shultz walks you step by step

Back up Gmail with fetchmail -
The article is aimed at Windows users
, but it's based on a Linux.com article. Here's
how you do it on Linux
. Huh? Same thing can be done with any POP client...
VMWare's 3D graphics acceleration just around the corner? -
Somebody managed to get a hand on an internal beta
build of VMware Fusion whose UI offers a way to accelerate 3D graphics in virtual machines, and even made a video of some serious 3D gaming action in Fusion.
Quantum computer to debut next week -
D-Wave has promised to demonstrate

that can carry out 64,000 calculations simultaneously. Wow.
Vodafone launches YouTube mobile -
The launch will focus on the UK initially
and involve YouTube providing a daily selection of videos. Vodafone said customers will also be able to forward links of their favourite clips and upload their own content from their phones.
Crazy man drops $230k on a flight simulator -
It's got 13 quad-core machines
hooked up to his 42-inch Philips Ambilight TV, all running a rig sitting on top of a crazy hydraulic setup.
Jack Tretton wants to give you $1,200 -
Sony's Jack Tretton said
: "If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1,200 bucks for it. I can get any retail buyer on the phone with you and get them to verify that there's not a single retail location in America where there's a PlayStation 3 on the shelf for sale." Wow, this guy has a seriously tenuous grasp on reality.
Why The Ugly Girl is Pretty When You're Drunk -
Many of us have heard of
the so-called "beer goggle" effect
. It's the phenomenon that occurs when someone's had a few alcoholic drinks and suddenly, all of those people who looked semi-attractive on entering the bar look really, really appealing.

3 years from now = soon ? in IT ? And that is not factoring the delay of longhorn/vista which was expected sometime in 2003/2004 originally. And MS doesn't need to care about people not purchasing their OS, as in short time you won't have the option to buy computer with XP, only Vista.

People are still using 98 and 2000, and they are more than 3 years old  Anyway, the idea of forking $399 for a Ultimate release of Windows every 3 years is ..$#(*$&*#&@#&@ :violent1:

Yeah most third world countries use older version of Windows; Governments, schools, administrations, small businesses ... Also a lot of IT sector that depends on Windows is on 2k or earlier. I remember talking to some shareware developers that said how 80% of their customers were still on some older version of Windows and how they need to support those versions. The other 20% is in Europe and USA, and 10% of that is pirate.
I've been running Vista in a virtual machine for a few days now, and i really, really don't see any significant reason for an upgrade.
The good news is that, with some tweaking, you are able to run it on a 256MB (virtual) machine and even have 16 MB free

Wow...Are you using the ready boost stuff in order to compensate?
lmer
(04:52 PM CET - Feb,10 2007 )
Well it's not like I'm using it really. It's just for compatibility testing. ReadyBoost and the other Boost were among the first to get disabled. Otherwise, they "manage-up" all your memory. With those two disabled there is actually a slight performance gain, even though all the action is in the pagefile lol.

@johnydog -> Umm, ur talking 'namebrand' pc's come with vista if anything.. I believe there 'is' still a choice from almost all retailers. As well, where I live and people I know that bought custom systems from stores also have a choice OS or bare. And what's so hard about going to buy your own disc at the store. It's not like they don't stock every OS known to man. Nobody is forced to upgrade.

@Vista dual boot. hilarious. Pretty easy to dual boot, install Vista with existing XP, then in My Computer properties there is a set of options to fully configure the boot menu.... Partition tools are not required. :?
