(hx) 11:31 PM CEST - May,14 2016 - Post a comment
  • Samsung Reveals 256 GB MicroSD Memory Card - Samsung has announced the EVO Plus 256 GB microSD card, what it claims is the highest-capacity memory card available for sale. Samsung says the card can hold 33 hours of full HD video, 12 hours of 4K / UHD video, 55,200 pictures, or 23,500 music files. It offers read/write speeds 95Mbps and 90Mbps, respectively. The card is heat, x-ray, magnet, and waterproof. The EVO Plus 256 GB microSD card will go on sale in the U.S. and other countries in June for $250.
  • Microsoft Pulls WiFi Sense from Windows 10 - Microsoft has decided to remove the WiFi Sense feature from all versions of Windows 10, including mobile devices and PCs. The feature was pulled from the most recent preview build of Windows 10 for PCs; it will be pulled from phones, too. WiFi Sense allowed people to share their WiFi logins with social network connections, as well as connect to public WiFi networks with less hassle. "The cost of updating the code to keep this feature working combined with low usage and low demand made this not worth further investment," explained Microsoft. Microsoft said people who leave WiFi Sense running on their phones will still be able to connect to open WiFi hotspots that are already in Microsoft's shared database. Microsoft recently released a new preview build of Windows 10 for handsets. Build 14332 mostly targets bugs and makes refinements to the user interface of select apps. The next preview build for phones will likely strip out WiFi Sense.
  • Opera Debuts VPN for iPhone and iPad - Opera Software today launched a free VPN for iOS devices that allows iPhone and iPad owners to browse the web more securely and access what might be prohibited content when using managed networks. The VPN removes ad trackers for privacy purposes and supports virtual locations (U.S., Canada, Germany, Singapore, and the Netherlands), which should let people get around some region-based restrictions. The VPN supports a handful of languages, including English, Arabic, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Opera imagines the VPN will be useful to students and office workers who are restricted from accessing social networks or other types of web sites when using campus or office WiFi. Opera VPN can be downloaded directly from Opera's web site.
  • New Attack Reported On Global Banking Network - Petya has recently been known as that nasty piece of ransomware that not only encrypts your files and holds them hostage in exchange for bitcoins, but also manipulates the booting process along the way. This makes it harder for victims to operate their computers, urging them even further to pay up. In order for Petya to activate, a user must first grant the program administrator rights through the UAC security feature. If a user rejects the request query, the infection process will be terminated. However, the developers behind Petya have recently worked around this, releasing a new type of ransomware even if the user rejected the program access to the computer.
  • Adobe Issues Another Security Advisory For Adobe Flash Player - Adobe, a world leader in overlooking critical security flaws in its own products, has issued another security advisory for Flash. Update is already available.
  • Google Bakes Search Into Keyboard App for iPhones - Google has revealed GBoard, a keyboard application for iPhones that includes search capabilities. Google is pitching GBoard as a way to simplify how people use the iPhone by allowing users to perform searches without leaving the current app, such as text messaging. A dedicated button calls up the search tool, which presents results in card form with important details, including addresses, business hours, and phone numbers, on the screen. iPhone owners can then send search results, such as restaurant info, flight times, and news articles, in messages or emails with a single tap. Beyond the search tool, GBoard also brings searchable GIFs to the iPhone keyboard, and makes it easier to find emoji. Last, the app includes swipe-style typing, so iPhone owners can trace their finger across the keyboard rather than peck at individual letters. GBoard is free to download from the iTunes App Store.
  • How torrenting works - A torrent might look like a typical download, but the difference is the only thing keeping you out of legal trouble. Russell Brandom explains.

The device, dubbed HoloFlex, is capable of rendering 3D images with motion parallax and stereoscopy to multiple simultaneous users without head tracking or glasses.
