- Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 tested -
Overclocked the
Core 2 Duo E4300 becomes quite a performer, outrunning even Intel's Core
2 Extreme X6800!
- XFX GeForce 8800 GTX XXX Edition: the world's fastest graphics -
It's
recommended to the enthusiast who wants cutting-edge performance from a
regular card. For everyone else, a stock-clocked GeForce 8800 GTX is more
than fast enough, and it's cheaper, as well
- Intel preps all-in-one embedded CPU - Slides, which are
presumably from Intel roadmap,
indicate that
Intel Tolapai system-on-a-chip (SoC) will include a Pentium M-like
microprocessor with 256KB L2 cache, integrated dual-channel DDR2 memory
controller that supports PC2-3200 (400MHz), PC2-4200 (533MHz), PC2-5300
(667MHz) and PC2-6400 (800MHz) memory modules, PCI Express controller as
well as I/O bridge that features support for Serial ATA, USB, Gigabit
Ethernet and so on.
- Kingston 2x1GB PC2-9200 & PC2-9600 DDR2 Memory -
If you're a gamer looking to upgrade from that 800mhz DDR2, and you've
got the motherboard/cpu combo to run above specs, then either one of these
new kits from Kingston Technology will do you proud. What's nice too is
these kits are able to run these scorching speeds at just 5-5-5-15 timings.
- Super Bowl Infection Widespread -
The attack
targets two known vulnerabilities in Microsoft's Windows operating
systems, for which patches were issued in April and January. Computers with
unpatched software are vulnerable to the attack. If one of the hacked sites
is visited, the JavaScript code directs the browser to a second Web server,
based in China, and tries to install a Trojan Horse downloader and
password-stealing program on the victim's computer.
- SiSoftware Sandra Lite XI (2007.2.11.22) -
SiSoftware Sandra (download)
is an information & diagnostic utility. It should provide most of the
information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware,
software, and other devices whether hardware or software. It provides
similar level of information to Norton SI, Quarterdeck WinProbe/Manifest,
etc. The Win32 version is 32-bit and comes in both ANSI and native Unicode
formats. The Win64 version is 64-bit and comes in native Unicode format.
- Windows Vista's SuperFetch and ReadyBoost Analyzed -
Vista comes with two mechanisms that effectively reduce the time required to
launch popular applications: SuperFetch analyzes your behavior and
proactively puts applications into available main memory, so they can be
launched quicker. Of course this requires as much main memory as possible,
which is where the second feature engages: ReadyBoost allows expanding the
main memory size by plugging in a USB 2.0 Flash drive. Although the data
transfer performance of USB 2.0 devices cannot compete with modern hard
drives, access times for Flash memory are literally nonexistent, making
these devices a nice and particularly cheap choice

This is a great series so far, but why not call it "The Ultimate Guide

black room.
The result was an immediate burn-out, which we were all to ready to
photograph.
