Are you the type who stays up late to finish your work, or do you get up early to make a fresh start on the day? If it's the former, you may be pleased to learn new research has found that those with higher IQs tend to be nocturnal night-owls. But if it's the latter, you might have good reason to distrust the claim. FYI, I never sleep! :-P
  • AMD begins shipping Fusion APUs - Purported to be the next big thing in portables, the Fusion chips integrate a CPU and GPU in one, an APU, hoping to give an improved all-round performance compared to competing integrated systems. Currently, the intel GPUs are outperformed by all but the slowest AMD integrated solutions, and as most netbooks ship with an Atom/Intel combo, this restricts netbooks to all but the most basic tasks. AMD hopes to tackle this, with their all-in-one chip.
  • GeForce GTX 560 comes next year, has 384 shaders - The new card is based on GF114 chip, which is an improved GF104 with better clocks and all eight clusters enabled. If you enable all eight clusters the number of shaders jumps from current 336 to 384. The math behind is very simple. 'Each Streaming Multiprocessor(SM) in the GPU of GF104/106/108 architecture contains 48 SPs and 8 SFUs Special Function Unit' more here. This is the card that is supposed to replace the GTX 460. 
  • AMD HD6970 update and performance indicators - The HD6970 is not aimed at the GTX580 price point and therefore will not perform to the same levels. However, Kitguru are fairly certain that it will be a stunning value for money solution.
  • AMD ATI Chips Comparison Table - A table comparing the basic technical specs from all AMD/ATI graphics chips available on the market, from the Radeon 9200 to the Radeon HD 6870. Updated to include the Radeon HD 6390.
  • Catalyst 10.10e hotfix - Brings morphological anti-aliasing (MLAA) for Radeon HD 5000 cards 
  • iTunes 10.1 is out, brings video AirPlay and iOS 4.2 compatibility - Apple has released the final version of iTunes 10.1 to the masses. The update includes a number of bug fixes, improvements, along with both iOS 4.2 compatibility and the ability to use AirPlay to stream video to the latest version of Apple TV wirelessly. iTunes 10.1 is required to install iOS 4.2 and with rumours abound that the release for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad being delayed until next week, it gives users the chance to prepare for the update
  • Windows Phone 7 gets the jailbreak treatment - Microsoft launched their Windows Phone 7 to the market last week, and hackers have already compromised the operating system to allow unauthorized code to be run, allowing users to run applications that Microsoft would normally not approve of.
  • Ballmer sells 12% of his stake in MSFT, is he preparing to leave? - Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer has sold 49.3 million shares or 12% of his own shares, in Microsoft stocks in the past three days, worth about $1.3 billion. According to Reuters, Steve Ballmer plans on selling up to 75 million shares by the end of the year, which could possibly mean Steve Ballmer has lost faith in Microsoft and could be planning to leave the company. However, Steve Ballmer denies any speculation that he might be leaving the company in a quote from the companies website, 'I am excited about our new products and the potential for our technology to change people's lives, and I remain fully committed to Microsoft and its success.'
  • Japanese Hologram Rocks Sold Out Concert (video) - The hologram is accompanied by a live band and is selling out concerts across Japan. Look out all of you temperamental rock stars, you really can be replaced!
  • Bugatti Veyron test drive accident (video) - The little dent that the gorgeous car came out with reportedly cost the driver about $30,000. And the worst part for him was, he hadn't even bought it yet, it was his test drive!!
  • Battle: Los Angeles Trailer - A young Marine platoon, lead by Aaron Eckhart, faces off against a surprise alien invasion in Los Angeles.
  • The Eagle - The First Trailer - Focus Features has debuted an epic trailer on Apple for the action flick The Eagle, originally known as The Eagle of the Ninth, starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Mark Strong, Donald Sutherland, Un Prophete's Tahar Rahim and many others. Arrives in theaters on February 25th next year.
  • Third & Final Epic 'Tron Legacy' Trailer Unleashed - Disney has debuted one final epic full-length trailer for Joe Kosinski's Tron Legacy.
  • Teaser for Ruairi Robinson's 'Blinky' with Max Records - SlashFilm posted a trailer for an indie film called Blinky.

If he left, Windows could finally take off and be an OS that it should have been from the beginning (unless screwed up by another Ballmer-like moron)... Although it's going to take at least one major release (2-3 years) before we can see any real impact...

Support your first 2 opinons but the last one is uninformed and seriously, don't try and act like you know anything about Balmer, his successes or the Windows platform successes. Windows 7 by any stretch is far from a failure of any kind. Not to mention their mobile phones running with Windows are also doing well. I don't care if you hate M$ just don't act like you know anything about them.
