NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650Ti Boost Review -
Last year NVIDIA delivered the GTX 650Ti to provide a product for gamers that wanted to play the latest games but did not necessarily want to break the bank to do it. For that there is the GTX 690 and just released GTX Titan.
The GTX 650Ti, meanwhile, proved to be capable of playing the latest DirectX 11 games
with some of the eye candy on at a really attractive $150 price point. This made it an attractive upgrade path for those users stuck in older hardware not capable of meeting the needs of games running in a DX 11 environment.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 With Octa-Core & Super AMOLED HD Coming Soon? -
SamMobile is reporting
that the Plus tablet will be a high end tablet with a 10.1inch or 11.6inch Super AMOLED HD display. Although the latter choice sounds a bit large, it is still a possibility with pixel resolutions going through the roof. Moving to the inside, SamMobile has confirmed that this tablet will be carrying the full Exynos 5 generation chip. This chip was supposed to be the main feature of the Galaxy S4. However, the North American version was instead loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip. The new chip, if it is featured in the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus, would offer 8 cores and superior processing ability. Sam Mobile also mentioned that it is highly likely that "Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus at IFA 2013 in Berlin, along with the Galaxy Note III". IFA 2013 is scheduled to take place from 6 to 11 September 2013.
Former Microsoft executive says Apple has lost its way -
According to Bob Herbold, a former chief operating officer at Microsoft,
Apple hasn't been the same since Steve Jobs died
. Cook, who became chief executive after Jobs' death (and served as acting CEO when Jobs took a medical leave prior to his death), is nothing more than an "administrator" of Apple, Herbold implies in an article he penned for Forbes. Though he doesn't mention Cook by name, Herbold says Apple needs "a visionary leader, not an administrator." "The leader needs to be paranoid about making the core offerings of the organization more exciting and more impactful with its customers," Herbold wrote. "That sounds simple, but doing it with clarity and speed is absolutely necessary. You must avoid any kind of bureaucracy that can water down the impact of your efforts or slow it to a snail's pace."
Linux users file EU complaint against Microsoft -
The 8,000-member Hispalinux, which represents users and developers of the Linux operating system in Spain, said Microsoft had made it difficult for users of computers sold with its Windows 8 platform to switch to Linux and other operating systems. Lawyer and Hispalinux head Jose Maria Lancho said
he delivered the complaint to the Madrid office
of the European Commission at 0900 GMT (4 a.m. EST) on Tuesday. In its 14-page complaint, Hispalinux said Windows 8 contained an "obstruction mechanism" called UEFI Secure Boot that controls the start-up of the computer and means users must seek keys from Microsoft to install another operating system. The group said it was "a de facto technological jail for computer booting systems ... making Microsoft's Windows platform less neutral than ever". "This is absolutely anti-competitive," Lancho told Reuters. "It's really bad for the user and for the European software industry."

Why now is the perfect time for a vacation to Iran (sort of) -
"Hyperinflation vacation"
is the title of a new piece in The Atlantic by Graeme Wood. He espouses his "First Rule of Budget Travel," which states, "where there is runaway inflation, there are great deals for travelers with hard cash." High inflation can allow the budget traveler to live like royalty, provided that he or she has plenty of hard currency from a stabler economy; say, for example, U.S. dollars. But that's only if you don't mind conflict tourism of the economic-warfare sort.
