- NVIDIA could announce the GeForce GTX 1060 on July 7 - According
to reports, the third Pascal-based card from NVIDIA
will be
made official next week and could go on sale starting 14th July. Along
with the announcement date, key specifications of the card have also
been “confirmed†now, thanks to leaked slides. The GP106 based graphics
card will include 1280 CUDA cores and come with 6GB of GDDR5 memory.
While the core clock remains unknown for now, it is tipped to come with
a boost clock of around 1700 MHz, which points to a compute performance
of approximately 4.4 TDLOPs. The leaked slides also confirm a TDP of
120W and that the card will draw power using a single 6-pin power
connector. Display connectors on the Founders Edition card include
three DisplayPort 1.2, DL-DVI and an HDMI 2.0b port
- AMD To Issue Software Fix To Address RX 480 Power Consumption
Problems - AMD statement: "As you know, we continuously tune
our GPUs in order to maximize their performance within their given
power envelopes and the speed of the memory interface, which in this
case is an unprecedented 8Gbps for GDDR5. Recently, we identified
select scenarios where the tuning of some RX 480 boards was not
optimal. Fortunately, we can adjust the GPU's tuning via software in
order to resolve this issue. We are already testing a driver that
implements a fix, and we will provide an update to the community on our
progress on Tuesday (July 5, 2016)."
- SanDisk Debuts Two 256 GB MicroSD Cards - SanDisk has announced
two new high-capacity microSD memory cards for smartphones, tablets,
and other devices. Both cards offer 256 GB of storage for photos,
music, movies, and other content. The SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I
card delivers transfer speeds of up to 100Mbps and write speeds up to
90Mbps for burst photo capture. SanDisk says the card can store up to
14 hours of 4K video. This card is meant more for professionals than
consumers. SanDisk's Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card Premium Edition targets
Android smartphones and tablets and is meant more for general capacity
than raw speed. That said, transfer speeds reach as high as 95Mbps,
which SanDisk claims is rapid enough to move up to 1,200 photos from a
phone's built-in storage to the memory card in about one minute. The
card can store up to 24 hours of full HD video. The Extreme microSDXC
UHS-I will go on sale during the fourth quarter for $F200, while the
Ultra microSDXC UHS-I will go on sale in August for $150.

- Hacker puts almost 10 million healthcare records up for sale -
There has been another reported incident of a hacker selling
stolen personal information on the dark web. This time, a cybercriminal
is offering almost
10 million patient records for around $820,000. The seller, who
calls himself 'thedarkoverlord,' started listing the data on dark web
black market TheRealDeal over the weekend. There are four databases on
offer, which includes patient details such as names, addresses, dates
of birth, social security numbers, and health insurance information.
The largest batch, containing over 9.2 million patient records stolen
from a US health insurance provider, is on sale for 750 bitcoins, which
is around half a million dollars.
The other databases allegedly originate from three different, unnamed
healthcare organizations: one in Farmington, Missouri that contains
48,000 records for 60 bitcoins; another in Atlanta, Georgia has 397,000
for 300 bitcoins, and the third in the Central/Midwest US with 210,00
entries for 170 bitcoins. Thedarkoverlord claims to have already sold
$100,000 worth of records from the Georgia database. 'Someone wanted to
buy all the Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance records specifically, the
hacker said.
