(hx) 09:39 PM CEST - Mar,27 2011 - Post a comment
  • Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 - Quad SLI Tested - Quad SLI still needs some work on the drivers however our tests such as Crysis 2 show that the GTX 590 in single or dual card mode offers an unbeatable gaming experience.
  • Drivers Cause GTX 590 To Burn (On Video)? - SweClockers claim the supplied driver (ForceWare 267.52) for GeForce GTX 590 will not stop the card from overheating when overclocking.
  • Browser Speed Tests: Firefox 4, Internet Explorer 9, Chrome 11 - LifeHacker tested all these browsers' startup and tab-loading times, JavaScript powers, and memory use for your fast-minded enjoyment.
  • Don't panic, IE9 not being pushed out to all users (yet) - Admins can rest easy for a bit as it seems there was a bit of a miscommunication by Microsoft's IE team earlier this month. They advised then that IE9 would be pushed out to all users by March 21. As it turns out the software giant is staggering out the rollout of IE9 via Windows Update starting with beta and RC users first. Microsoft's Doug Neal had this to say on the matter:
  • New PS3 'Condor' Supercomputer Now Fully Online - The Air Force hopes to use the PS3 cluster to allow for real-time surveillance over large areas without sacrificing image quality. According to Mike Barnell, director of HPC at the Rome Research Lab, Condor will be able to keep 24/7 watch over a 15 square mile area. User control will be unprecedented; Condor's users will reportedly be able to turn and rotate the camera in a manner reminiscent of modern gaming
  • Windows Phone 7 'NoDo' update released - Microsoft has finally gotten around to releasing the first major update for Windows Phone 7 devices, NoDo.
  • Google Delaying Honeycomb Source Code - Google says it will delay the distribution of its newest Android source code, dubbed Honeycomb, at least for the foreseeable future. The search giant says the software, which is tailored specifically for tablet computers that compete against Apple's iPad, is not yet ready to be altered by outside programmers and customized for other devices, such as phones.
  • iPad 1 vs. iPad 2 strength test - check it out
  • iOS 4.3.1 released - Apple released iOS 4.3.1 to users.. The software is available through the typical iTunes delivery method. The update has not been available for Verizon CDMA customers yet. The update addresses some minor bugs and performance tweaks. The update applies iPhones 4 and 3GS, iPads 1 and 2, and generation 3 and 4 of iPod Touch. There had been rumors that the update would fix some battery life issues, but that has not been confirmed yet.
  • TEROOS - Shoulder-mounted Telecommunication Avatar - An interesting find at Interaction 2011, was from a research group from Keio University who demonstrated Teroos; a shoulder-mounted avatar for telecommunication. Video chats have definitely brought people closer, but with Teroos; you have the possibility of doing much more. With this system, anyone who's going out carries an avatar on their shoulder, while the other person can operate the avatar to look around freely.
  • App Turns Your Phone Into a 3-D Scanner - check it out
  • PES 2011 - Launch Trailer (Windows Phone 7) - PES 2011 for Window Phone 7 is available now, priced 6,49 Euro/L5.49.
  • Nintendo 3DS reviewed - The 3DS features Glasses-free 3D, 3D cameras, Augmented Reality features, backward compatibility and more. It's pretty expensive and lacking decent games, but what we do have is a great looking 3D screen with a positive future!
  • Asus Eee Pad Transformer Promoted in Big Bang Theory Parody - Asus head honcho Jonney Shih followed up on his son's idea to use BBT as the basis for a promotional video for the Eee Pad Transformer and the result has me reaching for the barf bag. It's like they took Big Bang Theory, replaced Sheldon with a British doofus, removed any semblance of comedy, and shoehorned in some heavy promotional placement that is nowhere near what a sitcom would normally look like.
  • iPad 2 Meets Shotgun in Slow Motion (video) - check it out
  • Oxford English Dictionary adds OMG, LOL abbreviations - OMG, the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) has approved the additions of the two exclamatory online abbreviations found in this sentence, LOL. OMG, short for Oh My God or Oh My Gosh, and LOL, short for Laughing Out Loud, have joined other entries of the sort, including IMHO (in my humble/honest opinion), TMI (too much information), and BFF (best friends forever) in the March 2011 release of OED Online. The dictionary also added a new entry for "heart" (♥), which can now officially be used as a verb (as in I heart/love something).
  • 12-Year-Old Boy Genius Sets Out to Disprove Big Bang - At 12-years-old, Jacob Barnett is a genius. He's already in college, his IQ is higher than Einstein's, and for fun he's working on an expanded version of that man's theory of relativity. So far, the signs are good. Professors are astounded. So what else does a boy genius with vast brilliance do in his free time? Disprove the big bang, of course.
  • Scientists Find Evidence of New Phase of Matter in Superconductor "Pseudogap" - Scientists are working hard to find ways to make superconductors operate at much warmer temperatures, but certain unanswered questions have been standing in their way for decades. One of the most pressing unanswered questions is called the "pseudogap." The quest to understand the pseudogap and determine if it helps or harms superconductivity is a key area of research for scientists all around the world.
  • Amazing Trailer for 'Captain America: The First Avenger' - After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers for a new top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero devoted to defending American ideals. The Genetic Opera and Mother's Day, still due out later this year.
  • Awesome New US Trailer for Takashi Miike's 13 Assassins - This premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals and is being distributed by Magnet. Miike's 13 Assassins arrives in theaters April 29th and is available VOD now!
  • Bollywood Version of Iron Man (video) - The first teaser trailer for Ra.One aired yesterday during the India-Australia World Cup Match. This is reportedly the most expensive movie ever made in India, with tons of CG special effects.

  • Justin Bieber vs. Slipknot - Psychosocial Baby - This has to be one of the best, worst mashups I've seen in a while! OMFG!
  • Megan Fox Armani Jeans Sexy Outtakes (video) - Armani deserves some kind of higher calling recognition for hiring uber-sexy Megan Fox for their Armani jeans front-girl, wherein the mega-hottie former Transformers star seems to model everything but jeans in a thankfully never ending series of photoshoots and videos.
  • Danica Thrall Is Pretty Damn Sexy - I don't know who this Danica Thrall chick is, but she sure knows how to get my attention!
