  • Microsoft to promote integration of Xbox 360 and Vista - check it out
  • Microsoft Word Zero-Day Attack Discovered - In the attack scenario discovered by Symantec, a rigged Word document arrives by e-mail with a lure to trick the target into opening the file. "When the infected Word document is opened, it uses an exploit to drop some files onto the computer. These files are back door Trojans that enable an attacker to gain remote access to your computer," the company warned.
  • News Corp. Goes After YouTube Uploader - Twentieth Century Fox has subpoenaed YouTube to discover who uploaded four episodes of the popular TV show 24 before they aired on television. In other news, Hollywood is saying that Canada is responsible for 50% of pirated movies. Oh yeah, blame Canada! :-D
  • Google defuses Googlebombs - Google has taken action against Googlebombing, the act of hundreds of Internet users linking up specific words with certain web sites in order to produce a desired (and usually comical) search result. To remedy the problem Google altered the algorithm by improving the way they analyze link structures on web sites. " Such unauthorized disclosures indicate an attack on one or more players sold by AACS licensees." • Bizarre Windows promo video (1987) unleashed - According to the actors, W-W-W-Windows/386's main selling point is that it looks "just like OS/2", and it can even allow multitasking. It's easy to see how far we have come in twenty years of hardware upgrades: Vista's main selling point, after all, is that it looks just like OS/X and can it take advantage of multicore processors to allow multitasking :-) FYI, the first independent version of Microsoft Windows, version 1.0, released in November 1985, lacked a degree of functionality and achieved little popularity, and was to compete with Apple's own operating system. Windows 1.0 did not provide a complete operating system; rather, it extended MS-DOS. Microsoft Windows version 2.0 was released in November, 1987 and was slightly more popular than its predecessor. Windows 2.03 (release date January 1988) had changed the OS from tiled Windows to overlapping Windows. The result of this change led to Apple Computer filing a suit against Microsoft alleging infringement on Apple's copyrights.
