GeForce GTX 470 2 and 3-way SLI Review -
Guru3D take a look at SLI scaling of the GeForce GTX 470
. They look at single card performance, dual-card performance but also triple (3-way) SLI performance to see how well these puppies will scale.
The article first covers SLI performance among the new GTX 470's in several configurations and games, and then they check a little one on one with 2-way Multi-GPU gaming in a multi-GPU slaughter-fest article in the ATI versus NVIDIA kind of way to see who and what scales the best.
Chrome OS Conceptual Screenshots -
Chromium has been posting some conceptual screenshots
of what the Chrome OS may look like. The Chromium site is full of reminders that the UI is under development and that "designs are subject to change", but I suspect that we'll see many of these ideas incorporated into the final builds of Chrome OS.
How to Quit Facebook Without Actually Quitting Facebook -
LifeHacker wants to help
you quit Facebook without actually quitting Facebook.
Wi-Fi Sync wirelessly syncs jailbroken iPhones with iTunes -
Wi-Fi Sync
is an app for the iPhone that allows you to sync your iTunes library on your Mac over a Wi-Fi connection; the clincher, it has to be jailbroken. Apple doesn't allow wireless syncing for god knows what reason, but if they were planning on it than we would have probably heard of it in the iPhone OS 4 update.
A Cellphone Exploded In My Face -
Holy crap man,
just look at the picture
of this exploded cell phone!
Google Can't Sell Their Own Phones, Shuttering Web Store -
Google decided to
stop selling the device through their online portal
and instead focus on the typical retailer channels.
Gizmodo E-mail to Jobs: 'We Have Nothing to Lose' -
In what seems to be the clearest evidence yet
that Gawker Media editors didn't talk to an attorney before buying a lost or stolen prototype iPhone, new court documents reveal the gadget blog balking after Apple CEO Steve Jobs personally requested its return. The affidavit, prepared by detective Matthew Broad in the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, says Jobs contacted Gizmodo editor Brian Lam on April 19, the same day the gadget blog published a story about the 4G iPhone.
Tearjerker Charlie St. Cloud Trailer with Zac Efron -
Universal has debuted
the official trailer for Charlie St. Cloud, an adaptation
of the beloved novel "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud" written by Ben Sherwood. Universal is bringing Charlie St. Cloud to theaters starting on July 30th this summer.
Official: NBC cancels 'Heroes' -
It's official. NBC has cancelled 'Heroes.'
The network seriously mulled bringing back "Heroes" for a shortened final season to wrap up the serialized show. In the end, given the fairly high cost of the drama, the show's consistently declining ratings and the number of new hour-longs coming to NBC next season, the network decided the UMS-produced series wasn't worth an additional season. Sources say the network is still leaving the door open to conclude the show with a special or movie.
Parents Go Nuts While Passing Top Gear Crew (video) -
Oh, come on.
How could you not get excited for Top Gear?! ;-)
Impossible motion: magnet-like slopes (video) -
In this video
, wooden balls roll up the slopes just as if they are pulled by a magnet. The behavior of the balls seems impossible, because it is against the gravity. The video is not a computer graphic, but a real scene. What is actually happening is that the orientations of the slopes are perceived oppositely, and hence the descending motion is misinterpreted as ascending motion. This illusion is remarkable in that it is generated by a three-dimensional solid object and physical motion, instead of a two-dimensional picture.
