Maybe intel meant 10Ghz with all cores running.

If you come to think of it, we have quad cores at 3Ghz already. This is the equal of single core at 12Ghz if we are talking 100% cpu usage, so yes they actually made it. Not to mention the rest of the tech additions.

Actually speaking strictly about frequency, AMD is at 6X3.2Ghz now. Unfortunately they are not as fast as Intel per thread, but they are doing fine for the price anyway.

If you could choose between a 10 GHz CPU or a 10 inches dick by 2011, which one would you choose ?

Ha, I don't care if computers run at 3 or 10 Ghz or have 1 or 64 cores, each is just a contributing factor to final number crunching ability.

I would just like to point out that this article is from 26 july 2000 (10 years ago) for those who are not aware so what you're reading isn't exactly news of any kind. The 10GHz prediction was meant for single core CPUs and not Multiple Cores.

Although well maybe in 5 - 8 years we'll have multiple cores on a machine running at 10GHz each so who knows LOL ;]

i dont think we ll see chips above 4 maybe 5 ghz in the near future.
the main reason we have multicores right now is because they couldnt raise the hz without serios issues.
i mean we had 4 ghz cores 5 years ago, we are still there today, and probably will be for a while longer.
