I watched Constantine last night on DVD. I didn't expect too much so I wasn't very disappointed. All in all, it was a pleasant enough waste of two hours :)

Here's some stuff:

• Amazon: No Xbox 360 pre-orders for you! - According to Punchjump, Amazon had been taking pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and was planning to deliver them through its partner, Toys R US. But now, the site reports, the two companies have just sent out a letter to anyone who placed a pre-order apologizing and canceling the transaction.
• Gizmondo to fight PSP with widescreen version - A widescreen version would definitely help the Gizmondo to take on the PSP in the 'media center' stakes and might help gameplay, but MediaCenterPCWorld.com can't help feeling that the lack of decent games and absence of global brand means that it's all a lost cause.
• "IPhone" could be music to Apple's ears - Ultimately Apple may introduce its own cell-phone iPod combination, dubbed the "iPhone," designed by Apple itself from the ground up and which would most likely be made by a contract electronics manufacturer, such as Flextronics or others.
• USB SIM Card Reader/Writer - The USB Sim card reader/writer is a nifty tool that allows you to transfer information to and from your cellphones sim card via your computer. Which means you can store and edit your phonebook and sms messages on your PC.
• IM Fone - Bluetooth based device allows using cell phone to make calls via IM - The IM fone allows you to use your cell phone and its contacts as usual, the difference being that you are not actually using the cell phone service network but rather the internet to make and recieve these calls. There will be of course major savings in your next bill cycle thanks to the IM fone. Being based on bluetooth, it is possible for the user to move around in a range of 50 meters from the computer with his cell phone and still be able to talk.
• Backpack generates power from walking - Fueled by a snack, hikers can put the spring in their steps to good use, the researchers write in Friday's issue of the journal Science. The backpack is deliberately designed to shake around a bit. The up-and-down movement of the backpack's cargo compartment against the frame of the pack turns a gear connected to a generator.
• New IBM Ultra Fast Printer - CNN/Money is reporting on a new IBM printer, that can print Tolstoy's "War and Peace" in less than a minute, by delegating pagination to a separate unit.
• Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting Demo - Masaki Kawase's Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting Demo shows, through DirectX 9, the kinds of high dynamic range lighting techniques that will be used in next-gen titles such as UT2007 and Gears of War. The demo itself requires pretty serious graphics hardware (Radeon 9700 or GeForce FX level), however the results are spectacular.
• Internet pirates copying films even before cinema release - It goes from young Internet users swapping video files of films recorded using cameras hidden during cinema screenings, right up to professionals who illegally duplicate a movie thousands of times to make money.
• Doom Poster Revealed - Universal Pictures has provided ComingSoon.net with the new poster for videogame adaptation Doom, directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and hitting theaters on October 21.
• Gallery of Hoax Websites: A-J - These aren't sites about hoaxes. These are sites that are, themselves, hoaxes.
• This Beer is Said to have an Alcohol Content of 25.4 Percent - A German brewer has concocted what he says is the world's strongest beer, a potent drink with an alcohol content of 25.4 percent that is served in a shot glass. /Ed.note: I prefer Pilsner Urquel :P/

• Joint Ops Bundle Planned  - NovaLogic announced plans for Joint Operations: Combined Arms, a bundle that packages the first-person shooter Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising with its expansion Joint Operations: Escalation.
• Shadow Warrior: Wanton Destruction full freeware - 3D Realms have relased the full freeware release of Wanton Destruction, the expansion pack by Sunstorm for their 1997 far-eastern first-person shooter Shadow Warrior. This add-on never made it unto retail shelves and was thought lost in the bowels of time, but has now re-surfaced and is made freely available (requires the original v1.2 registered version of the game)
• Blizzard says 'No' to Warcraft on consoles… for the moment - According to ArsTechnica, Blizzard's vice president of business operations, Paul Sams, stated yesterday, on CNN, that while porting WOW might be a cool idea, "once we get to the point where we feel we've achieved best of class and it's sustainable, then we'll start contemplating those types of things."
• Cyberlore Downsizes - Gamecloud has learned that game developer Cyberlore has cut its staff considerably earlier this past week and will no longer be developing entertainment game products.
