  • StarCraft 2 vs Dawn of War 2 - PC.IGN compares Blizzard's StarCraft 2 against Relic's Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 2: "Both games present the ever-important tech trees in different fashions; with Blizzard's game research is mostly done at various buildings set down around a base, whereas with Dawn of War II research is at a single building and then also heavily distributed amongst individual units. An intimate knowledge of map layouts along with tech tree progression is of course paramount to online success, and we'll be able to go more in-depth on this once we get some more hands-on time with both titles. It should also be noted that since both games, particularly StarCraft II, are still being worked on, this kind of information is subject to change. "
  • No DX10 Support for F.E.A.R. 2 - An interview with Monolith's John O’Roke reveals that F.E.A.R. 2 won't support DX10 (+video): "While we would have loved to have added DX10 support, unfortunately time didn't permit. However, we have managed to get all of the features that we wanted for this title to work with DX9. So even though we don't support DX10, no features were cut because of it, so you are still getting the game as it was intended. " FYI, the promised playable demo for FEAR2 shouldl be released for Xbox 360 and Play Station 3 on January 22. The PC demo should be released soon too.
  • Depths of Peril Demo v1.03 - The updated Windows demo for Soldak Entertainment's action/RPG can be found on AtomicGamer, FileFront, and GH
  • Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2 Beta Coming to Steam - The beta will be hosted via Steam and will launch exclusively to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War - Soulstorm owners on January 21. If you're not a Soulstorm owner, you'll be able to get in on the action on January 28 when the beta is opened to all worldwide. All four races (yes, including Tyranids!) will be available to try out in the beta, along with five multiplayer maps and Games For Windows LIVE TrueSkill Matchmaking.
  • X-COM Complete Pack $5 on Steam - Valve today announced that the X-COM: Complete Pack--which includes five games from the UFO invasion series--has been reduced in price to a mere $5 on Steam. In related news, Dead Space $49.99 is now available on Steam as well.
  • Wolverine game site - Activision has launched a teaser website for the latest X-Men game based on the forthcoming Wolverine solo movie. The site includes a Flash based 360 degree screenshot
  • Lara Croft Heading For Redesign - Because it's never management's fault it looks like Eidos may be looking towards another redesign of Lara Croft following a 500,000 unit shortfall in sales. This follows lay-offs at developer Crystal Dynamics as they get bitten in the ass for focusing on the Tomb Raider property.
  • No Blu-ray Drive Coming for Xbox 360 - Microsoft's Robbie Bach made it clear they do not plan on making an Xbox 360 with a Blu-ray drive.

Or perhaps if Crystal Dynamics were more interested in fixing the 72.000.000 horrible bugs in Tomb Raider instead of spending thousand of hours to make her tities look so real, people would be interested in the series again.... :roll:

I don't think DX10 is a crock. It's the next service pack just marketed as dx10. I find running almost solely on Windows 7 now that games for DX10 seem smoother and more fps stable compared to XP and DX9. Most people gaming today should have a DX10 capable video card now so why not use what you paid for?
