- Micro-transaction model a possibility for WoW? - VideoGamer.com's recent interview
with Blizzard's Tom Chilton, game director for the totally underground
MMO World of Warcraft, is full of interesting tidbits for the
WoW-innoculated -- info on the possible new races and classes that
could make their way into the new expansions, in-game territories yet
to be explored, etc. However, one blurb from the interview has the
online gaming world a-buzzin' -- probably because said blurb references
the possibility of a free-to-play, micro-transaction business model
for the monolithic title. (thanks Joystiq)
- Old School LucasArts Announcement Monday - The
LucasArts Twitter site has been teasing
about a major new
announcement coming on Monday for the past couple of days.
What is it?
The only clue given is this one: "It is awesome news for our old school
fans." Hmmm...a Day of the Tentacle
revival, perhaps? Maybe an X-Wing/TIE Fighter
revamp? We have our fingers crossed on that particular possibility.
- 3D Performance with ARMA II Demo - Wondering
which video cards perform best with ARMA II? In this article FiringSquad
combined GPUs ranging from the Radeon 3870 up to the GeForce GTX 295
across two different CPUs: a Core i7-965 Extreme Edition, and a Core 2
Quad Q8400 to see how well the game scales across the various GPUs and
CPUs inside.
- Fallen Earth debut video - The video shows off the
post-apocalyptic MMO's settings and effects with a heavy metal guitar
hammering in the background. Interesting concept. Let's hope the
developers pull it off.

gathering new maps to blow up more zombie brains everywhere in our new
Undead Revenge Map Pack with 25 brain crunching levels."
- Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood DLC Announced - Techland
has announced via a press event that
three bits of DLC are coming for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. No
date or price point on it yet, but the first two sets will contain
multiplayer maps and the third, is to be broader and designed for the
single-player mode. It will be made available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
- Dead Island is still in the works -
Techland has said that its zombie game Dead Island is still in
the works, just that details are hush-hush per the unnamed publisher's
request. "All we are allowed to say is that the game is in development
and doing great and that all future updates regarding the game will
come directly from the publisher," Techland's Blazej Krakowiak told G4TV. The
non-linear first-person shooter allows you to use anything you find in
your surroundings as a weapon and is expected to land on PC, PS3 and
Xbox 360, eventually.
- Left 4 Dead 2 MP demo confirmed - In a
short word with OXM
in a recent press event in London, the busy Doug Lombardi confirmed
that Left 4 Dead 2 will have a pre-release multiplayer demo to help
boost sales and perhaps ease some of the tensions the community feels
toward the sequel. Developer Valve has reaffirmed that it will continue
to support the
original edition of its cooperative zombie shooter with
as-yet-unspecified downloadable content.

third-party patching marathon may be approaching the finish line
